So whether you like the new direction coming for the new series, or not. There's one thing all Whovians share a curiosity and love of, the TARDIS. So here Is where it gets good and nerdy..

What do you think the new direction will take the TARDIS console room? What will the rest of the ship look like inside? Give us your best shot, ideas, and speculations.

My thinking is, we are gonna get some classic roundels back maybe. And maybe a bit brighter interior. Definitely a console that may also be a bit more classic in feel, or a variation on the existing version.

I think given the state of science fiction in 2017, the whimsical days of the copper TARDIS console with its bits and Bobs is over. Now there's a need for more of that functional and technical design look. Something really special. Realistic, and not a junk console. Grunge and whimsical phase over I suppose..functional and futuristic is in.

It'll have a hexagonal console with an illuminated shaft that goes up and down in the middle of it. But what I really want to know is - when are you going to post a new avatar contest? Couldn't you have made this your theme?

Ah crap! I forgot, got busy with work. Okay..new avatar contest coming later tonight!

Hexagonal console? What if they go round again, like the coral console. I kinda want to see the light panel version from the Sylvestri comics. It had a Star trek TNG feel to it.

Well, considering her costume's '80s vibe, I would imagine we'll get a bit of a retro feel to the console room as well.

How about a console room inspired by the art of H. R. Giger? Kids brains are already saturated with sexual imagery anyways.

They spent cash on the First Doctor's console room, so... recycle. It is the original after all. Rebooting the desktop, as it were.

Honestly...I wouldn't mind that. I loved seeing the old console room in modern time, especially as a non-wobbly (and oppose to the often incomplete) set.

Yeah, they had a quasi-classic control room redressed for the War Doctor, using the "round things" on the wall with a differently-lit Nine/Ten's console. Something along those lines might be cool, to give it a retro-new aesthetic.

I think the new console room will definitely be brighter and well-lit, but it may also be slightly smaller than the more recent versions (it'll still be wide as before, but we may return to everything being on just one floor instead of having upper and lower levels). I think the overall décor will be "comfortable starship," with very modern office-like furniture along the walls.

With the walls having lots of round things...

The new wallpaper should be the inside of a giant tree, with wooden bookshelves cut in the wood, old lanterns as lights, wooden levels and metal chains to pull.

I actually got the idea from here:

But I'm thinking more like a gigantic version of the Jedi tree library.

I wouldn't mind an updated version of #4's alternate Victorian console room.

    Better H. R. Giger than H. R. Pufnstuf, that's for sure... :D

Wouldn't mind seeing lots of roundeled white walls and a brightly lit set again after seeing TUaT. Has more atmosphere than most of the modern versions, some of which were not bad...

Then again, Giger has something going for him:

How about 1987-ish? Earth tone post-modernist hotel lobby a la Enterprise-D bridge. With couches and chairs and other seating, more of a multipurpose space like the bridge of the Waverider in Legends of Tomorrow. Enough with the dark "atmospheric" lighting and bring back the bright original TARDIS lighting. Big 3D-style screen (Time Lord tech like the paintings in "Day of the Doctor") on the wall instead of the little one on the console-mounted arm.

Have the 13th Doc be a huge Trekkie and redesign her console room so it looks like the bridge of the Enterprise.

Has there ever been an ep where the console room changed during a scene? I'd kinda like to see that.

Nope. I don't think that's something I want to see.
