"The Day of the Doctor."
Speaking of which:
Aw man, that hurt to watch... Hope they unveil the new TARDIS tomorrow to make up for it.
I doubt we’ll see much of the console room until the first episode airs,
It’s a shame capaldis tardis got taken down, I always enjoy seeing the doctor in the wrong console room. Just hope it reappears in a new Dr Who experience, and soon.
Do they normally leave it up between seasons?
Tennant’s was, but it was being saved for The Doctor’s Wife, apparently. I wouldn’t expect a spent set to remain in place though, not if they need the space.
I'll chip in here.
I'll be annoyed if it's another orangey organic looking TARDIS. I echo the sentiments by many here and would like a more traditional, minimalist, white TARDIS. As the Doctor's outfit looks a bit 80s, as many have said, a slightly 80s TARDIS would be nice. Whether it's based on the aesthetics of the classic series TARDIS or something more like the TNG Enterprise, I'd like something more in the vein of one of those looks. Maybe something like this but with a flat floor and maybe a bit smaller. Also maybe stick with the Police Box Tardis door.
I want it to have curtains and pillows, just because it'll set everybody off.
Back in 1999/2000 I saw something like this in Doctor Who Magazine:
Apparently the console room they used (I'm not sure if it's this exact one;I don't have ready access to the issue(s) involved) was created in minature and Sylvester McCoy was greenscreened in for some TV program.
While I wouldn't call for this exact console room, I do like the idea of a suspended console. Give the rest of the room a modern makeover, though.
They wouldn't have taken the console room down unless they needed the space for something else as it's been sitting there unused since June. A fair bet that the new set is going in exactly that space.
I'd forgotten that the "roof" of the set was a fabric. Guess it makes sense to do if they ever want to put in specialized lighting or effects that would otherwise require literally blowing the top off the thing. And while they had no reason to, I find it weird that the exterior of the set was left unadorned. Someone could easily have graffitied a "Capaldi Wuz Here" on those walls. :P
Throwing this one in again. https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/images/ic/1200x675/p00pqhhv.jpg
Yeah, I've always loved both of those design ideas. The first one might be possible now, but I doubt the BBC budget would allow for something so beautifully intricate as the second one.
I just hope whatever design Chibnall's team came up with, they retain the bookshelves from Capaldi's console room.
Books? The new Doctor will only read from her Kindle.
A sonic kindle?
Damn all of this sonic nonsense!
The sonic screwdriver does everything else, why not read books on it?
