I've only read the first collection of Lumberjanes so far, but if that's anything to go by, this could be great.

Nice to see She-Ra getting a reboot, although given the creator involved, I imagine we might be getting a rather more stylized and cartoonish character design style, and I'm not sure how I feel about that. I quite like She-Ra's character design the way it is.

They were always shared universe and showed up in each other's shows at various points - I wonder if this version of She Ra is going to have a version of He Man, or will it all be off screen like Superman in SGS01?

^As mentioned above, there have been two He-Man animated revivals -- one a tenuous/nominal sequel to the Filmation show, the other a reboot -- but neither one featured She-Ra. So I don't mind if they leave He-Man out of She-Ra's series in return. It seems only fair.

The 2002 Mike Young Productions reboot was supposed to introduce She-Ra along with the Evil Horde in season 3 if it hadn't been cancelled.

Well, then maybe He-Man can show up in season 3 of this one.

Maybe he'll exist, but he'll just exchange occasional text messages with She-Ra and his boots will cameo in the season finale.

Looks like a similar character design style to Avatar/Korra and Voltron: Legendary Defender. Also it looks like they're going for a younger She-Ra, or at least a less curvaceous one.

Pretty much all US animation has at least some anime influences these days.

Looking all anime is better than looking like this style or like this style, especially when anime is done like this.

To each their own but my experience is Anime is often more detailed picture with generic 3 emotion faces, that end in a result that's more akin to a moving comic book with less animation. If I wanna comic book i'll read one. My biggest complaint with much of Anime is it isn't very animated.

I'll take less detailed pictures, with more face emotion and more animation any day.

There are a plethora of examples of bad toons in the USA, and overseas, and everywhere in the world, im not going to say that all animations of the US or "Disney" style are the best toons ever.

But by and large, Japanese cartoons, as both a stylistic choice, and a cost / time choice aren't as animated. and when it comes to cartoons I just happen to like that aspect of the craft and appreciate it more.

Anime isn't "not" animated, pardon my double negative. But still when watching it, it just makes me wanna read a comic book. It's like a halfway mark between a fully fluid cartoon and a comic book and I kinda want one or the other, I don't ever really want an "in betweenie"

Looks like it's being done by the same people who are doing the current Voltron series. Certainly appears to be a similar style. And personally I'm very impressed with the quality on Voltron.

None of that is relevant here (never mind the fact that it's an oversimplistic stereotype). Maybe there's some trace of anime influence in the character design, but this is not a Japanese show. It's a Dreamworks Animation production for Netflix from American comic book writer-artist Noelle Stevenson, and as already mentioned, it looks like it's going for a similar design style to the Dreamworks/Netflix Voltron series, which is beautifully animated.

maybe oversimplistic, maybe not, I'm not the only who's noticed the difference,

which is why I said "if". I could only go off that one picture cause that's all I could see.

At that stage of their development I have absolutely no idea what the final product would look like. If I see more, obviously i'll know more.

it certainly is better animated than most, but it's very clearly heavily anime influenced and styled. American animator or no. Still has that "too stiff" quality with the animation, Also has that 3 emotion anime face thing. I know those are stylistic things many people like, I don't.

To each their own, I like that you enjoy it and I'm not saying it's bad, just not my thing IIIIFF it turns out that way.

^And I will never understand why so many people online are so eager to spew negativity over something that isn't even made yet based on a single goddamn picture. Sheesh.

I think you're over reacting to my opinion a bit. It's just one man's opinion of one style vs another. It aint my thing, and I saw a picture and said "bleh"

You, maybe it's your thing. But if talking about why one doesn't like something is "spewing negativity" then... I dunno what to tell ya. Me personally, I just liked the back and forth. You like something, I don't, we shared opinions about it.

    I rather liked the exchange.
