With current trends, I'm surprised they aren't changing it so Prince Adam turns into SHE-RA...... or just make Princess Adora He Man.

Shhh, don't give them any more terrible ideas......

I wouldn't be surprised if they cast Benedict Cumberbatch as He-man. Just because.

Well, the only reason I give a shit about this is because it might lead to a She-Ra spin-off, so... :p

Many B&W comics and I didn't recall any description. Still, not blond haired and blue eyed.

If Goyer does end up directing, I wouldn't get my hopes up for a good film. Plus, it's Sony too.

Sorry He-Man fans, you're about to be 0 for 2.

Yeah, Goyer is an odd choice for this.

I doubt anyone under 30 has any nostalgia for the property, so if the movie has any chance of succeeding it's gotta be light and fluffy and kid friendly so that people who grew up with this in the '80s can drag their 10 year olds to it. And I don't think anything on Goyer's resume says "light and fluffy".

What about Chris Hemsworth as He-Man or do you think that would be to close to Thor?

Conan has blue eyes. Howard mentions it in nearly every story.

That surprises me. I thought DreamWorks was the current owner of the Filmation library.

So many people say Masters of the Universe sucks. I disagree. In fact, I do agree with a significant number of older comic book writers and artists, who say it's the best adaptation of Jack Kirby's Fourth World they've ever seen.

And I thought Masters of the Universe was a great film.

Sure, objectively, it's not a horrible fantasy film, though not a great one either. It's just barely recognizable as Masters of the Universe, so fans who wanted to see an adaptation of that were out of luck. It's like what I've heard people say about Keanu Reeves's Constantine (which I've never seen) -- that as a self-contained movie, independent of anything else, it's actually fairly good, but as an adaptation of John Constantine, it's completely wrong. (Which is also kind of what I think of Tim Burton's Batman.)

Can I get some further extrapolation on the 4th World / MoU connections? I watched He Man as a kid, and some 90s 4th world stuff when I was into comics, but have never thought enough about either one of them to see any connections.

Well, the Kirby connections are only part of the MotU movie, not the He-Man TV series. Here's an article that talks about it:

    https://www.cbr.com/comic-book-urban-legends-revealed-75/

Apparently the director of the film was a big Kirby fan and did the film as an homage to his work. He actually tried to get Kirby to do its production design, without success. John Byrne has said that he considers MotU "the best New Gods movie," although he's speaking figuratively (like when people say The Incredibles is the best Fantastic Four movie).
