What do you think , were rebels the bad or good guys ?
personally i think rebels were the bad guys , people who don't look deep into the death stars destruction and what happened after most likely think rebels were good guys , but if you dig deep i can bet you will say rebels are the bad ones , since after the destruction of the death star , planetary systems occupied by Galactic Empire well some of them did rebel and gain independence but at what cost ? protection and order , Empire provided them , Empire provided safety for ones who were loyal , when rebels did win order became chaos , and than Yuuzhan Vong came and the New Republic barely beat them even with help of the Imperial Remnant forces , but still 300 trillion , thats like 150,000 times the destruction of alderaan , if the Galactic Empire did win the war against rebels scum , Yuuzhan Vong would not have even captured the outer rim .

Honestly, when I watch Star Wars I usually root for the Empire, I see the rebels as little more than petty thugs who latched onto the first cause that would have them, say what you want about the Empire atleast they get stuff done. I dont't see why it was so much worse than the republic to be honest, the only difference is you were screwed over by a democracy rather than an Emperor. I bet the only reason Bail Organa and co supported the Rebellion is because they wanted the republic back because it made them rich.

If the Empire didn't commit genocide by destroying Jedha and Alderaan I maybe could sympathize with the Empire.

Those planets were full of Rebel scum, the Empire had to set an example of what happens to planets that harbour Rebels.

The Empire was a tyrannical organization. They subjugated entire races like the Wookies, destroyed entire ecosystems by strip mining planets in an effort to build up their military, and imprisoned or killed countless people. They were feared by everyone in the galaxy and for good reason. The Rebels may not have been saints, but they stood up against an oppressive regime in an effort to restore the freedoms and ideals from the earlier Republic.

Tough call...religious zealot terrorists or entrenched control freak super-power.

    Neither.

The Droids were the good guys.

Yeah, the Empire just suppressed freedom, enslaved whole populations and commited genocide on others. Doesn't sound evil at all.

I don't see why they're so much worse than the Republic, not counting the Death Star anyway.

Well the Republic didn't use slaves, and didn't blow up planets

You know, if it wasn't for all the genocide, slavery, torture, false imprisonment, child murder, oppression, assassinations, elimination of political and press dissent, and constantly using weapons of mass destruction to blow up stars and planets, the Empire wouldn't be half bad. Oh, and they're also run by religious zealots, to respond to an earlier post.

Always look on the bright side of strife.

I always thought the Rebels were a little pushy with their demands for peace, unity, and freedom. Give it some time, folks, positive change takes generations.

What was the worst thing the Rebels did over the course of the original three films? The only morally questionable thing that really comes to mind is getting a bunch of Ewoks killed fighting on their behalf during the Battle of Endor, and even then it's likely that if they hadn't done that, the Death Star II would have destroyed the moon in a test-firing, resulting in a whole lot more dead Ewoks.

What was the worst thing the Empire did over the course of the original three films? I'd say obliterating a heavily-populated planet simply because it would be a more impressive spectacle than blowing up a lightly-crewed Rebel base is up there. With blowing a big chunk out of a moon and probably killing everything on it just to make sure the Death Star's planet-killing gun actually worked being a close second.

So, yeah, Rogue One might have proved the Rebels weren't saints by any means, but compared to the Empire, it's not even a contest. Now, if you want to root for the Empire because they're cooler than the Rebels, on the other hand...

Well, the Ewoks chose to fight, unless you're suggesting that the Rebels fed them false information to gain their support.

Of course, the Rebels as shown in Rogue One weren't above misleading people to gain their support...

The Wookies deserved it. Damn nudist giant teddy bears.

The difference between the Ewoks and the Wookies was that the Ewoks showed more determination, ingenuity and drive to keep their planet free from the Imperials and they succeeded unlike those giant walking furballs.
