Do any of you have first hand experience with the Furuta line of Star Trek models? Are they any good and how do they compare to the Eaglemoss models? I'm thinking about getting the Stargazer, in the hope that it's more accurate than the Eaglemoss one, but I'm not sure if it'll be worth it.
No experience but (I could be wrong) I got the impression they were all-plastic, whereas the Eaglemoss line had varying quantities of metal in them. Can't be 100% sure, though.
Update: I found an article here that compares the E-D versions by Faruta, Eaglemoss an Johnny Lightning and it does appear that the Eaglemoss one is the superior design, in terms of accuracy, size and materials. The JL one is okay and the Faruta one, IMO, looks simply horrible. There are a number of comparison & review videos on YouTube that look at various mini-ship designs to give an idea of which ones are the best. Based on what I've seen, nobody comes close to Eaglemoss, especially when it comes to overall product quality and variety.
Thanks, that helps. I think I will take a pass at them then.I own the Furuta Voyager and Ent-C. No comparison whatsoever. Eaglemoss’ ships are (mostly) faithful heavy diecast models, Furuta’s ships are cheap-looking lightweight plastic toys. The ones you’d find in a kids burger happy meal.
Did they use the CGI model from some book covers for that one? It is really inaccurate, but thankfully they appear to have learned from that. I can't think of any subsequent models which have been quite that bad.Eaglemoss research for the Stargazer seemed very lacking - I assume they thought the original studio model was nothing more than a simple kitbash.
Wow - they're actually shipping missed ones? I honestly didn't think they were keeping track. Learn something new every day...
Would it be sensible and ask them (not to)?Damn! I had to backfill 8 separate issues on my own through the store, Amazon and eBay, including all the ones you and mindx2 mentioned. Finally got them all done months ago. I kind of hope they don't try to backfill mine now after all this time.![]()
Pretty sure that CG was the work of Doug Drexler, made in the same way that Picard's ready room model was from the TMP-DE Enterprise model. He detailed it's quick-and-dirty creation (for the Stargazer novel covers IIRC) on his now-defunct Drexfiles page.Did they use the CGI model from some book covers for that one?
