What are these called where you live?

Next photo. What is your word for these

IMG_1675.jpg

I believe the term I've heard most often is "flip-flops".

We also use "flip-flops" or
strandsandaler (beach-sandals).

It's more common to call them "chinelos" over here. It has no direct translation. Our Wikipedia claims it's a word we inherited from the Genoese Language.

However, a lot of people will just use the equivalent of sandals – "sandálias".

Before G-string underwear, they were called thongs.

Sidenote:
In the US, it's candy
In the UK, it's sweets
In Australia, it's lollies.

Shower shoe

Or offensive weapon whilst in the hands of my mother during beach holidays in the 80's.

Hugo - thwack

I think "thong sandal" is a more technical descriptive term that's also used in archaeology/anthropology to describe footwear without a heel strap, used in ancient times. "Flip-flops" is more casual/colloquial.
