NCAA Football 2017

I guess I’m fine with Bama edging out Ohio State. Somebody was going to get snubbed but if you put a gun to my head I believe Bama is a better team.
 
I don't care about who's "better" in some beauty pageant way. That's the way of the old BCS and fake "National Champions." Ohio State won its conference. Alabama didn't even win its own division. Period. With only 4 slots, that's the only acceptable methodology.

Of course, that ship sailed last year. What's ironic is this is the same bullshit excuse that let Ohio State sneak in last year over Penn State and get sand-blasted, but now the shoe is on the other foot. What makes this 10 times worse is there's two teams from the SECSECSECSEC (killmenow). Until the playoff goes to 8, that's unacceptable. Either expand it, or limit it to conference champions (and undefeated independents). It's absolutely absurd that 2/5 of the Power Five Conferences are left out for goddamned Alabama because Nick Saban is a whiny bitch that decided rat poison tastes great this year.

I’ve never been a huge “win your conference” guy. The conference titles are settled and then the National title is settled. To me that argument only holds water if you play in the same conference and get snubbed. I don’t know how OSU would have faired in the SEC West. Would they get to the conference title game? UCF won their conference. We are overlooking the fact that Alabama decided to start their season against number 3 FSU. While that win doesn’t look that great now, remember that Bama’s defense took out their star QB which torpedoed their whole season. Meh, I’m still snakebit on remembering Barrett and company laying an egg against Clemson. I don’t particularly see OSU beating any of the elected four anyway. They had homefield against the Sooners. Nah, this is better Television for those without a vested allegiance.
 
I've always thought of the Cotton Bowl as kind of second rate among the major bowls. I grew up watching UT play in it year after year.

I've read that USC had the 2nd most difficult schedule behind only Clemson. Something ain't right.

And now Ohio State owns the north. Far too much red on the map for my taste. :( Kinda poetic that App State owns most of Michigan right now. :D
Oddly enough, Clemson and Alabama aren't playing for any territory, but Oklahoma and Georgia are. In the end, whoever wins the championship will come away with 24 territories. But the overall winner will be between USC and OSU for a total of 31 territories. Pitt gets third with 22, and their season is over.

Well I was right, but not in the way I thought.

I expected to lose based on our defense not being up to the challenge. Mobile QB's usually give us fits.

But the defense played pretty well, giving up only 17 points and shutting them out in the second half.

Our offense, on the other hand, completely shit the bed. Darnold needs to stay in college another year and develop some goddamned pocket awareness. He looked terrible last night. Definitely not like the 1st round pick he was once projected to be.

Overall, not a bad season. Disappointing end.
 
Alabama Vs. Georgia. Say what you want about the committee’s seeding but I don’t feel like they got it wrong. A legit National Champion is going to be crowned and I don’t think there is any room for dispute.
 
The NCAA should do the right thing and just make the SE(B)CS Championship*. :hugegrin:

So, UCF has now gone out undefeated, including beating the team that beat the two teams in the final game. And now they're planning their own championship parade as well as hanging their own championship banner in their stadium.

Now, I know nobody is really taking this seriously, but as one UCF fan I saw on reddit said, "If it helps bring about an 8 team playoff where teams like us actually get a chance to compete, I'll gladly look the fool for taking this "seriously" in the meantime."
 
They had a parade in Disney World and the Governor of Florida declared them National Champions in the state of Florida.
 
Team Meteor didn't come through for me last night, but hey, I'm perfectly fine with uga losing! :D
 
^ Too high or too low? Personally, I think it's just about right. The top 4 are still the top 4 (just reshuffled, as they should be), and then there's OSU and UCF.

But I do agree with UCF that they should have had a chance to play for the championship. Hopefully the noise they're making will get us to an 8 team playoff soon, although TPTB have said they're not planning changing things.
