The least disliked episode of Voyager - Season Six

BlueStuff

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
This is a game that we play every few years or so, and it's generally a lot of fun, providing a chance to mentally revisit those episodes you may not have thought about in a while. With that in mind, why not play again?

So, here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your least favorite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters, and wait at least 6 hours after your last vote, before voting again.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win.
Pretty simple. Enjoy! :bolian:

Unimatrix Zero (I)

Where to start? Both of the Fair Haven episodes are so, so technically awful and offensive. I'll boot Fair Haven first just because the whole idea of a 24-hour open door policy for this program seems so incredibly dumb to me. Why is this program so important that it's necessary to forego the 5 seconds it would normally take to say "computer, load program Fair Haven"? Seems like a tremendous waste of power to me. And what about people who want to use programs other than Fair Haven? No luck, unless the other holodeck is free, I guess. Fair Haven is just so damn vital that it needs to be constantly running. This bugs the hell out of me! Anyway, I'm sure its brother will join it on the trashpile soon enough.

Well then let me get rid of Spirit Folk. I find it more stupid than the first Fair Haven episode and a contender for worst of the series. :o

It's crazy that they'd have a holodeck on all the time anyway, let alone with that dull programme in particular. It's all so hollow and unoriginal.

Barge of the Dead, no klingons around except B'Elanna and they still manage to make an episode full of klingons and the klingon afterlife ... why? Who asked for that?

Fury is toast... do I need to explain this one? It seemed a rather pointless ep with its only high point being Tuvok's birthday cake (which looked mighty tasty):

"ASHES TO ASHES", dust to dust. I am killing this one because it was a ridiculous retcon that Harry had a fellow Academy graduate on the same ship as him, and in 5 years we never heard of her. And to find she had a thing for him all that time... I just couldn't get behind this episode.

(It was fun, however, realizing 10 years later she would be a great recurring character on SUPERNATURAL.)

Eliminating Tsunkatse.

Hey, we show Voyager and wrestling back to back for no reason. How can we bridge their almost completely incompatible audiences for a cheap one-shot ratings boost? Hey, I know! Let's contrive an entire episode around The Rock appearing for two minutes and fighting Seven.

Removing Virtuoso. In addition to not believing any society could miss the concept of music, I don't care for the way the Doctor got swept up in the attention he was getting.

The Haunting of Deck Twelve. I'm not big on ghost stories.

The best part of Live Fast and Prosper is seeing the conman versions of the Voyager crew. Otherwise it's a dull episode.

Unimatrix Zero (I)

Unimatrix Zero (I) has been rendered irrelevant. Both halves of this two-parter are pretty terrible, but even in the first half it's clear that the crew no longer see the Borg as an existential threat, but rather as Kazon with bits of leather and metal bolted on, which is the final nail in the coffin for them as any serious threat.

:guffaw:So true. I also can't stand the casual Borgification of Janeway, Tuvok, and Torres. This thing that's supposed to be so profoundly violating and terrifying and a trauma that stays with you forever -- we'll just get assimilated and then undo it later! No biggie!

I'll toss Alice. I was like Charlie Brown and the football with these Paris episodes. I'd see the spoiler blurb and think "that sounds great!" and then it comes around and I'm totally disappointed with it. This, The Chute, Vis A Vis, Thirty Days...

Sorry, "Good Shepherd," you've been cut out of the flock. Not only is it as predictable as a paint-by-numbers painting, but also it comes way too late in the show's run. On a ship as small as Voyager, it's fairly incomprehensible that this trio managed to fall through the cracks for six years.

Wow, totally expected this to be farther along when I got home.

Nothing terribly bad left, for me it's between Voyager Conspiracy and Muse. So I will eliminate Muse. VC is one of those 'Character goes from 0 to total emotional breakdown then makes realization and goes immediately back to 0 with no lasting consequences'. Plus I was disappointed they revealed a Cardassian ship came first then didn't go anywhere with it considering there was previously a Cardassian infiltrator on board. But I'll keep a flawed episode over one that is so unmemorable that even reading the description on Wikipedia I can't remember a single thing about it.

Putting an end to "THE VOYAGER CONSPIRACY". Not a bad episode, but I thought the trust issues were forced this late in the series' run.

Riddles
Dragon's Teeth
One Small Step
Pathfinder
Blink of an Eye

Memorial. Ending was much to be debated. Seems let's just slap a solution in universal language and call cut. and it was kind of boring.

Equinox (II)
Survival Instinct
Tinker, Tenor, Doctor, Spy
Riddles
Dragon's Teeth
One Small Step
Pathfinder
Blink of an Eye
Collective
Child's Play
Life Line

I kind of liked it, though it seemed to be a rather sudden way of giving the under-developed crew of the shuttle something to do.

I'll get rid of Collective next. I really like Child's Play and the lengths Icheb's parents went to so that they could harm the Borg, but the actual episode where Voyager encounter the kids' ship is dull as dishwater.

Equinox (II)
Survival Instinct
Tinker, Tenor, Doctor, Spy
Riddles
Dragon's Teeth
One Small Step
Pathfinder
Blink of an Eye
Child's Play
Life Line

I will get rid of "CHILD'S PLAY". It's the weakest of the ones remaining, even though it had Mark Sheppard before he ended up being cast in... everything.

Equinox (II)
Survival Instinct
Tinker, Tenor, Doctor, Spy
Riddles
Dragon's Teeth
One Small Step
Pathfinder
Blink of an Eye
Life Line

Riddles. I like it. But it just wasn't the strongest of the season.

Equinox (II)
Survival Instinct
Tinker, Tenor, Doctor, Spy
Dragon's Teeth
One Small Step
Pathfinder
Blink of an Eye
Life Line

I'll extract Dragon's Teeth from the list. Some good moments and cool visuals, ultimately undermined by inconsistent characterisation, and one of the worst examples of "Janeway is always right" seen in the show.

Equinox (II)
Survival Instinct
Tinker, Tenor, Doctor, Spy
One Small Step
Pathfinder
Blink of an Eye
Life Line
