The least disliked episode of Voyager - Season Three

The Swarm is next for me. Janeway does a 360 on her attitude about keeping things Starfleet back in season two's Alliances. Thee scenes with Kes and the EMH save it somewhat though.

Dropkicking The Chute down a mineshaft. Dreary and dull.

Suder in Basics II made it one of my favourites - ever.

Suder was a great character, no argument. I found myself wishing they could have found another resolution for him besides killing him off, even though I guess that would have been unrealistic.

"Unity" is kicked out of the group. A chemistry-free romance for Chakotay, coupled with a lackluster reintroduction of the Borg.

Oooh oooh oooh. Got to get in and cherry pick one out to save what I hope survives. It is killing me not booting this one other episode though... but it is time for 'Remember' to leave us now. Parting is such sweet sorrow.

Aren't you violating basically the only rule of the game, no tactical voting?

This might be controversial, but I'm going to kick Scorpion. I actually love it, but I love all of these. But Scorpion has one very serious flaw: that agonizing speech about the scorpion!

The episode is rocking along great, so satisfying, so exciting, actually doing the Borg in a way that felt fresh and wasn't tired. And we're in the last act and it's great and then... there's 4 minutes of dead air as Robert Beltran tells the parable of the scorpion as a metaphor for the action of the episode. I STILL see shows using this -- seriously, TV writers, this needs to be retired permanently -- but it was ridiculously overused even then! And, of course, this tired speech is given to the worst actor to deliver. It takes all the air out of the episode at the worst time. Some of these other eps may not be as momentous as "Scorpion", but none of them have a critical scene as badly done as this one. Sometimes I don't even finish the ep after this (and I remember I definitely don't want to watch part II, because I suddenly recall it's basically a Chakotay ep)

Caught!

I'm ashamed, I shall only watch from now on, till the next round where I will be good or at least quiet.

(Hey Scorpion was the one I wanted to boot but didn't 'cause I know others like it :))

Well, you did explicitly confess, it didn't exactly take Odo-level investigative abilities to ferret you out. :bolian: But jump in if you feel it, just kick out the ep you legitimately like least, even if it's idiosyncratic. That's kind of the fun of the whole thing.

I wonder what'll win. Before & After is probably my single favorite Voyager, Worst Case Scenario is a delightful adventure that makes a great argument for the merits of Voy's lighter tone, and if Future's End ever had any flaws, they're now camouflaged by how ridiculously awesome it's 90's LA scenes are from the perspective of 2017.

I'd be happy with any of the remaining ones left. They're all quite different from each other. Before and After covers such range in story and acting. Worst Case Scenario is simply fun but has a edge toward the end. Future's End surprised me because I don't usually like back in time scenarios but I loved it, and it is pivotal.

I will kill "BEFORE AND AFTER". It was a great episode, rightly placed among the best of the season, but my one gripe is that Kes writes her report about the Krenim, but it's never mentioned in "YEAR OF HELL".

I'll put an end to Worst Case Scenario. While pretty entertaining overall, at the end of the day it's really just another holodeck story. To me, the Future's End two-parter is where the show really came into its own, and of course it provided the important task of giving the Doctor his mobile emitter.

Future's End (I)
Future's End (II)

Oh dear what a disappointing final two episodes. ;)

I'll kill part two off because the first half is a little stronger.

Futures End Part One wins.
