Flat Earther to Launch Rocket Proving Earth is not Round

"I know about aerodynamics and fluid dynamics and how things move through the air, about the certain size of rocket nozzles, and thrust. But that’s not science, that’s just a formula. There’s no difference between science and science fiction."

There is a little problem with this launch given a little term known as 'trajectory' that creates an arc based on the velocity, thrust and weight of the rocket in Earth's gravity.
 
The dickhead wants to fly on it - presumably any pictures taken by an onboard camera of the Earth's curvature would be ascribed to some bizarro conspiracy. What a waste of carbon this bozo is. Certainly a potential candidate for a Darwin award, assuming he hasn't worked out to reproduce successfully.

I seriously doubt that the FAA is going to allow him to fly it due to the very degenerate nature of Hughes.

Hughes has never flown an aircraft nor has he taken a single pilots lesson.

Well let's hope his scientific formula for calculating trajectory, thrust to weight ratio etc.. Is good.
 
I don't see him being allowed to launch it on Saturday.

Just imagine if he is able to launch it and another Paddock type idiot gets a hold of the blueprints what could happen.
 
Whatever he might see of the Earth's curvature with his naked eye, he could probably ascribe to a conspiracy beaming mind-control microwaves into his frontal lobes. Needs a thicker tinfoil helmet, perhap some mu-metal as well to keep out LF magnetic components of EM waves - oh wait, that's science.

In one interview he claimed that astronauts were merely actors in front of CGI.

Guess the U.S government had CGI decades before he rest. Couldn't he have at least claimed it was a movie set?

And if he had half a brain he'd know that the various formulas he's using as done cos some-one else did the science part.
 
Though why do you need a rocket, surely an airplane flight at 35 000 feet or so is high enough to disprove the idea that the Earth is flat.

from comments elsewhere, the flat-earthers claim the curvature that can been from an airliner is is due to curvature in the windows creating a fish-eye effect.

Were he to return successfully, I suspect he'll just state his belief was confirmed without offering any evidence. Needs a big sign errected just over his effective horizon that says something like "If you can read this, numb nuts, it seems you were correct after all and the ancient Greeks were wrong." Without telling him the content in advance, ask him to read the sign while he's up there. Of course, he wouldn't be able to see it so his feelings would be spared.

And how do they explain it when you go to the top of a very tall building, like the Empire State Building, and can see the curvature from up there, when you're outside?
 
They would see whatever they expect to see to confirm their beliefs - Australia even - without any explanation of why the night sky looks different from there and the seasons are out of phase by 6 months compared to countries where the night sky appears to rotate anticlockwise around the approximate position of alpha Ursae Minoris (Polaris), which is never visible from Australia, where the night sky seems to rotate clockwise about the approximate position of sigma Octantis.
 
Aw, he just has to fit a few JATO bottles to a Chevy Impala and yer set to reach the stars.. :biggrin::p;)
 
He's getting flat earthers to bankroll his little experiment, knowing that flat earthers have piss poor critical thinking skills and will believe whatever he tells them as long as he reaches the conclusions they expect him to.

So he'll take their money, and then fail to launch his rocket anyway, blaming it all on the government conspiracy to hide the truth, and then if he's REALLY ballsy he'll ask for even more donations for his legal team to sue the FAA or whatever to let him launch. At which point he will disappear, leaving flat earthers to wonder if the government had him eliminated for being too successful...
 
You know, there should be a NASA mission specifically to take a bunch of flat earthers into space, show them the fucking Earth is a sphere, and bring them back so they can tell their dumbass friends it's a globe.
