WB's Justice League 2017 movie pre-discussion thread

I don't know that they were "bad"? I just don't think that they are much in a way of memorable. Something to pass the time while munching popcorn, but immediately forgettable.
On other words, best surfed later for the price of HBOGO...if at all.

Most of them are pretty bad.

Deadpool was great, though.

Ironic you say that, considering all Deadpool had going for it was blood and skin.

The MCU redefined how to do CBMs, with hardly anyone able to catch-up. Plus, they're nowhere near as pretentious as DC or Fox.

Marvel Studios films are the movie equivalent of the Big Mac. Scientifically designed mediocrity that's satisfying in the moment, but bland and forgettable.

And "pretentious" doesn't mean "anything I don't like".

^ I don't know what movie you saw, but it wasn't Justice League, which is perfectly coherent - certainly as coherent as the first Avengers - and which hits most of the same general story beats as that movie but works a bit better on the whole because it's not centered on just 3 characters.

It's a theory undercut by the fact that people gobble up Marvel's crapfests.

The difference being that many people enjoy the Marvel movies and spread positive word of mouth/social media about them--which actually supports the theory rather than undercutting it.

I'm a baaaaaaad man. :p

I thought a lot about the first Avengers movie while watching this one. A lot of the same strengths and weaknesses. Much of what I liked about both pretty likely came from Joss Whedon.

It was enjoyable but nothing special. The soundtrack was especially weak.

My favourite moment was...
Angry woken-from-nap Superman's "Do you bleed?" to Batman. Hoping the series lasts long enough to go full-on Injustice with evil Superman as per Bruce's BvS flashforwards.

Was it just my cinema speakers or was the movie really loud at times? like REALLY loud during certain action sequences that it was a little uncomfortable on the ears. The soundtrack didn't flow particularly well at times with the film's action IMO and looked especially sub par bearing in mind I got to enjoy Thor's Ragnarok soundtrack the weekend before.

It was great to here the old Batman theme though.

mediocre B+ Cinema Score

How is B+ a medicore score? :wtf:

^ Yup. Cinema Score is a company that polls the general public, the vast majority of whom are apparently easily pleased. I don't know their exact methodology - they may not ask people for letter grades outright, for all I know - but, as Kelthaz says, As are absurdly common.

Yeah...when 100,000 people vote you get a pretty accurate idea of how much they liked the movie.

So much for "inflation."

I'm kind of baffled by the attitudes I'm seeing from people about movies. I understand people have different opinions on movies, and usually I can at least see where the people who don't like them are coming from, but I really, really don't get it. I don't think I have ever consistently enjoyed a single series with so many movies as I have the MCU.

Nah, people who say that are just upset at Marvel Studios for being able to make movies efficiently, on budget and gain critical and commercial success.

And "pretentious" doesn't mean "anything I don't like".

It does mean a lot of the heavy handed stuff DC tries to feed us, and repeatedly fails.
