Star Trek Continues - To Boldly Go (Parts I & II)

Most excellent. Very satisfying ending to the series. Amy really channeled her mom. Awesome scene.

Agreed. While it won’t win over any new fans at this late stage, it pretty much ticked the boxes for what I expected and did leave me a little misty eyed at the end.

Obviously more to discuss once it’s on public release, but there’s some nice touches throughout I thought.

Okay, here it is.

Sorry, but this stunk. It was just pure TNG style fan service. Nothing but callouts and conecting the dots.

And Bixby was pretty much on target with his predictions.

I was quite satisfied with the episode, also thought the writing improved over the first part. I'm going to miss new episodes from the STC crew, but I'm perfectly okay with To Boldly Go (Part II) bringing it all to a close.

It was a bittersweet end but I thought it was a fine conclusion. Many of the things in it made me think of what I wanted to see in proper finale to TOS. It was well done.

Hardly. He got a couple big ones right that a lot of people could have guessed as well based on Part I, but plenty wrong. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. I still don't get why mere speculation deserves the spoiler treatment anyway, unless we're talking about Nostradamus maybe.

In my opinion, there was one major flaw that is best not mentioned just yet (without giving away an actual spoiler; let's call it a contrived situation) that did detract from my enjoyment, but overall I enjoyed the finale. It had some very nice moments that in no way interfered with my own "head cannon", formed starting in 1979 when I was 13.

Okay, there it was.

Smith was the only character I liked in this episode. Everyone else gave me a headache from eyes rolling into the back of my head.

Does anyone have a good caption for this: :)

Well...that was good. Ending stronger than the beginning.
I think the segue into the TMP era was nicely handled, and Vic has Shatners mannerisms pretty perfect.
I would have avoided the use of the VGer musical sting, and Smith and McCoy should have been in that transporter room, otherwise there’s a hint of the ‘Kirk in every scene’ that can sometimes be incongruous in the later movies.
Overall it works damn well, when those are my only complaints...and go Nicola Bryant. She was awesome in these episodes.

A stunning finale, one we've needed for a long time. Yes dots are connected to TMP but it only makes sense.

The Five Year Mission has effectively been going on for 50 years, not just in fan fiction but in comics, books, records, games etc (and no doubt there will be more!). Finales have appeared in other medium in the past but in this format it feels more 'concrete'. This thing feels like it's been going on forever, so it's good to have closure.

I grew up in the 90s,l I'd seen the first six movies (hence why I love the references to them) but it was only checking out the *other* TOS fan series that I started going back and watching the actual original seres. I fell in love with it after being ignorant for so long! I made no secret that I was mad when Vic and crew came along, stepping on NV's territory, but I think with Continues we got the better deal - they set a goal and, even though they had to cut a couple of episodes, they followed right through to the end.

I have nothing now but respect for the Continues crew and the splendid dedication to finishing the five year mission.

Because even speculative discussion about pre-released photos when it relates to STC episodes has more than bothered some members in the past .

It was OUTSTANDING!!! Better than I ever dreamed it would be! Some of course say the ending was a downer. Of course it was a downer in a way. end of an era (and the end of ST: Continues) has to be somewhat sad no matter how you cut it.
And given the massive changes in the crew we saw in TMP, such as Spock on Vulcan and McCoy out of Starfleet it makes sense that the five year mission ended traumatically.
The reference to Drake's family at the end was a nice "Star Trek:Continues only" touch.
