The least disliked episode of DS9 - Season Two

This is a game that we play every few years or so, and it's generally a lot of fun, providing a chance to mentally revisit those episodes you may not have thought about in a while. With that in mind, why not play again?

So, here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your least favorite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters, and wait at least 6 hours after your last vote, before voting again.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove an episode because you feel they would threaten your preferred episode's chance to win.
Pretty simple. Enjoy! :bolian:

I'll remove Melora. It's your standard fair ROTW, with a dull story as well.

Paradise. Whatever they were going for with this, they missed the mark! Such a strange and unpersuasive story.

Playing God is dead. The early Dax episodes were almost always dreadful; this is no exception.

There shall be no Sanctuary here. The Skrreans are one of the dullest races ever to appear in the franchise, and the "battle" between the Skrrean ship and the Bajoran fighters at the climax is just face-palmingly stupid.

Darn, all the ones I don't like have already been picked off. I guess I'll pick off The Alternate, only because I'd rather see the other episodes first before that.

Eliminating Invasive Procedures. The premise is a bit weak itself. None of the guest characters are at all interesting and the resolution is poorly executed.

Hmmm. I really like season two, so it's already getting tough. I guess I'll drop Rules of Acquisition. It's a good Quark episode, it introduces the idea of the Dominion, but the Dosi don't do much for me.

The Circle

Necessary Evil

Armageddon Game

Rivals just lost. I don't understand how Chris Sarandon could be so much fun to watch in "Princess Bride" and yet operate at near-Joe Piscopo levels of bad here. Miscast?

The Homecoming
The Circle
The Siege
Cardassians
Necessary Evil
Armageddon Game

I'm-a gettin rid of Armageddon Game. Some good chemistry between O'Brien and Bashir, and the ending twist is funny, but the story really drags in places, and the villains come across as complete idiots for thinking for a second that Sisko's going to respond to "Please hand over two of your officers so that we can murder them" with anything other than hostility (or that trying to bump off four Federation officers is going to end at all well for them).

I'm removing Whispers. Much as I like it alone, it doesn't contribute like these others to the rich tapesty of DS9.

The Homecoming
The Circle
The Siege
Cardassians
Necessary Evil
Profit and Loss
Blood Oath
The Maquis (I)
The Maquis (II)
The Wire

I like every episode left to some degree, but I will get rid of The Siege. I think the three-parter is successful as a whole, but this was always the weak link, a disappointing resolution that really drops the ball on what the first two installments set up. The beginning of this hour feels dragged out, and then somehow it's still an overly abrupt ending. And wrapping up Li Nalas and Minister Jaro so conclusively was a mistake... keeping one or both characters on the board going forward could have done wonders for elevating the Bajoran arc as a whole.

The Homecoming
The Circle
Cardassians
Necessary Evil
Profit and Loss
Blood Oath
The Maquis (I)
The Maquis (II)
The Wire
Crossover
The Collaborator

I think Profit and Loss is the weakest one left. I do enjoy watching it, even if it's more ROTW to deal with.

The Homecoming
The Circle
Cardassians
Necessary Evil
Blood Oath
The Maquis (I)
The Maquis (II)
The Wire
Crossover
The Collaborator
Tribunal
The Jem'Hadar

I will kill "THE COLLABORATOR". Of the ones remaining, it is the weakest to me. And there are parts that can drag a bit.

The Homecoming
The Circle
Cardassians
Necessary Evil
Blood Oath
The Maquis (I)
The Maquis (II)
The Wire
Crossover
Tribunal
The Jem'Hadar

Blood Oath is gone, another klingon episode. I don't care about those three klingons and Jadzia always felt like a wannabe klingon, I never believed she was actually into that culture.

The Homecoming
The Circle
Cardassians
Necessary Evil
The Maquis (I)
The Maquis (II)
The Wire
Crossover
Tribunal
The Jem'Hadar

I think I'll knock off The Circle at this point. It's hard for me to distinguish much between parts one and two of this story in terms of preference, but I guess The Homecoming has some of that shiny new season premiere about it to justify it over the second part.

The Homecoming
Cardassians
Necessary Evil
The Maquis (I)
The Maquis (II)
The Wire
Crossover

The Jem'Hadar

Eliminating Crossover.

Did not expect this to still be in at this point, but by far the worst episode left. The MU episodes are so dumb, and not funny enough to justify the dumbness.

The Homecoming
Cardassians
Necessary Evil
The Maquis (I)
The Maquis (II)
The Wire
Tribunal
The Jem'Hadar

I'll eliminate Cardassians. Good Garak stuff, but rather thin scheme that has too much mustache twisting.

The Homecoming
Necessary Evil
The Maquis (I)
The Maquis (II)
The Wire
Tribunal
The Jem'Hadar
