Black Panther - Pre-release Thread

IGN has a photo gallery of props and costumes from Black Panther and Ragnarok.
The article also has the official descriptions for both movies.
Black Panther:
IGN said:
"After the events of Marvel's Captain America: Civil War, King T'Challa returns home to the reclusive, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to serve as his country's new leader. However, T'Challa soon finds that he is challenged for the throne from factions within his own country. When two foes conspire to destroy Wakanda, the hero known as Black Panther must team up with C.I.A. agent Everett K. Ross and members of the Dora Milaje, Wakanadan special forces, to prevent Wakanda from being dragged into a world war."
There's also a video of the props and costumes if you prefer that. The video is fairly short, but does give you a better look at the small details that aren't as clear in the pictures.

Very interesting song choice for the trailer. And it's pretty awesome to see full-on Afrofuturism in a mainstream, big-budget Hollywood blockbuster.

Wow, each time I think we've gotten the best and most unique looking Marvel movie yet, the next one comes out and blows it away.
Looks awesome, I love the designs for Wakanda. Even if the story isn't that great, it's going to be worth it just for the visuals.

Like the trailer before it, this film looks breathtaking. Definitely one of my most anticipated films of 2018.

Trailer has dropped.

Looks absolutely awful generic action shit.

Keep in mind that action had to be emphasized to an audience that knows little about Black Panther, even after his appearance/set-up in Captain America: Civil War. There's also the unconfirmed rumor that Bucky Barnes will have some scene in this film (released from suspended animation) as a nod toward his role in Infinity War. There was also the Bruce Banner rumor, but not much is known about that, or the extent of his role.

Since Black Panther was a "win" character in Cap 3, and he's now a part of the larger Marvel events, this should be a very interesting film. Here's hoping its serious and not dripping with jokes like some other MCU films.

A story has been going around that the Hulk's next three appearances will form their own arc, and the article I read specifically said those three were Ragnarok, Infinity War and Avengers 4. So unless they're ignoring a came in BP, I doubt we'll see him.

Yeah, I don't know how anybody can look at the production design of this movie and say it looks generic. It's some of the coolest, mos original production design I've seen in a long time.
I love the way they're combining traditional African and futuristic stuff.

I love the way they're combining traditional African and futuristic stuff.

The way I saw the production designer explain it in an interview was that she was basically imagining how Africa would've developed if colonialism had never happened. So it's not just lifting stuff from the past and grafting some high-tech stuff onto it, it's extrapolating how it might have evolved over time if European influences had never come into the picture. I think that's an intriguing idea, from both a creative and a historical/cultural standpoint.

I can definitely see that in the designs, and it is a really interesting idea.

And that type of creative thinking which follows through in the design and presentation as seen in the trailer is a far cry from "generic".

Damn! That is an incredible looking trailer. I've been waiting for this since back in the 80's when it was rumored that Wesley Snipes would play the lead. Early 30's Snipes would still be my first choice, but Chad Bozeman will do just fine.
