Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

All of the US operations?
Absolutely! That’s how it all started. No reason they can’t go back to it.

I kind of wonder if the Defiant’s glow in the dark plastic still contains some radioactive isotope that similar plastics used back in the 60s and 70s like the original Lief Erikson model kit.

You clearly haven't been paying attention for the past 2 years. And maybe you've just been lucky. Please read earlier posts on this topic. The issues are painfully well-known, here and elsewhere on the net.

Oh? How many times do I have to receive competent service before I've officially paid sufficient attention? Is 5 enough? A baker's dozen? When I've had a problem, I call them up, give them the part# that has an issue, they ship a replacement within 3 days. Sometimes zero questions asked. Other times a one sentence description of the problem.

What are you asking of these people that's resulted in so much trouble?

Speaking of old news, the XL edition of the NX-01 really is (nearly*) to scale with the PolarLights assembly model.
Which is cool if you want the NX- and Columbia/NX-refit classes side by side. :D

*Differences are due to imprecision in the molds.

Can't wait to see it! The subscription path puts me a little behind what's available on the online store. I only just recently got the XL E-E a couple of weeks ago. The money I save with the sub, however, makes it worth it to me. I'm still puzzled why they made the XL NX-01 just a little off-scale from the earlier NX refit special.

What are generally considered to be the best models of the line and what are the ones to avoid?

man i’m curious what others here will say. i think the standard NX-01 is the best model produced - in fact most of the enterprise-era starships are top notch because eaglemoss had the original CGI files to work from. the k’tinga, USS defiant, the first contact fleet ships (definitely the thunderchild, appalachia and yeager, not so much the norway).

i’ve tried to avoid buying the duds, but those include the voth ships, the negh’var, bajoran solar sailer, bajoran fighter, the insurrection holoship.

there’s a lot to say here really.

I’d agree the models from Enterprise are probably the best because of the CGI models. I’m a fan of most of the Starfleet models because I’m just excited to get them & just not very picky.

The exception to that would be the refit Enterprise which I think is considered by many to be one of the worst models. I was hoping for better with the Enterprise A but I lump it in with the refit. I’d also agree the Insurrection Holoship is a dud.

Bajoran Solar Sail is bad mainly because of it’s fragility. It broke twice just coming out of the box. I managed to glue it back together but it is the only model I left in the box & not on display.

In other news my glow in the dark Defiant came yesterday. I have to say it’s not very “glowy”. Took in a room with no windows & closed the door. I could only faintly see it & that was only because I knew where to look.

It's interesting, it's not immediately evident that the Defiant is glow in the dark. It has a surprisingly accurate paint job and only the bussards appear to be slightly off-color. Definitely not you daddy's glow in the dark plastic.

Perhaps it previously needs some “charging” with lights before it can glow in darkness? Like luminescence in watches. Don’t really know, just asking.

Did anyone's Glow-in-the-Dark Defiant come with a magazine? I just received the ship (no mag) and there was no note stating a magazine would be sent later.

Mine came the same way. The listing on the web store does say magazine may ship later but my receipt usually says something along the line of part of your order is on backorder.

No mag for me either. Like the Titan and Aventine for some people, hopefully they will send it later. I'm looking forward to perusing through that one.
