If they admitted DSC wasnt PRIME...

Honestly, I think Prime is about the only character they've gotten right in ANY of these wretched movies, and him, only in the first one, really.

We *are* talking about Bayformers here, right? No? My bad. I'll see myself out. ;)

Heck, even in the movies, there was a fair amount of variety when it came to the Klingons. Mark Lenard's Klingon in TMP did not look a lot like Christopher Plummer in TUC.

Doesn't mean the movies were set in different timelines. :)
Yes ;)

Indeed.

I'd say there were a couple of takes on the Klingons in TOS.

And what about Bob?

;)
Ehhh. That's a bit of a stretch. If there was a single character, like say "Kor" and he showed up numerous times in very different make up schemes, you might have a case, but...

...I could just as easily say "There's a fair bit of variety among humans in Star Trek."

To begin with when watching the opening two-parter, I had a big problem with the DSC Klingons. Literally big, because I thought they were CGI and they had actually scaled them up some, and maybe that had to do with why their ships seemed bigger, too. I think in part that was because of the extreme close-up on T'Kuvma that they opened with. But then I rewatched and saw that, no, they're "people sized", and I'm fine with them. (The ships are a separate issue. But I'm patient, and the showrunners have my trust for now.. ;) )

Not sure how that would change my case. Klingons showed up with different make up. Sometimes they were Kor-types. Sometimes they were Koloth-types. It went back and forth. And each episode was consistent with in it's self on how Klingons looked.
But if you want to go with characters that had different make up schemes. I say Worf, who's look was modified a couple of times.

Does that mean the Klingons were reimagined in each Klingon episode of TOS, movie, or every time Worf scored a new forehead?

Or does that mean that I'm a "Prax type" human, and you a "Myk type"?:)

We can hardly expect every Klingon to grow identical looking eyebrows, or trim his beard in the same manner, and then call it a change to the portrayal of that race.
Or forget each episode, what about those Klingons in the background in a single episode? They don't follow these "types." They look different because they are different people.

I voted "Don't Care" but I really wish there was a third option "Would Improve the Show"... So many of Discovery's problems would vaporize immediately if they just declared it another timeline or alternative universe or different stream of consciousness or whatever. But they've asked fans to accept that this square peg belongs in the Prime Timeline's round hole and it just doesn't. And that's really glaring, at least for me, and makes it hard to accept the stories for what they are. If you choose a setting, respect the setting; and if you don't like that setting, choose another to write about. Opting to choose another would have enhanced Discovery in my view, and would allow it to fit neatly into the whole of Trek without conflict.

Yes, because that's what a make up artist does.

I'm pretty sure my look wasn't designed by a make-up artist. If it was, I have some notes.

Actually, The Klingons in Trouble With Tribbles are all of the Koloth type while the ones in Day of the Dove are like Kang. And even in EoM, they're swarthy like Kor. though they lack the facial hair.

You could. But, one is a real race and one is a fictional race that involves creative artists expanding upon a previously established look.

I'd love if it was a third timeline, just for the meltdowns on the Facebook page. But it is Prime, albeit visually updated, so there isn't much discussion to be had.

Probably would not matter if for a subscription model the show is partly being paid for by people who won't watch it.

Except that it's clearly not the Prime Timeline. Other than what CBS and the Producers have stated for marketing purposes, there hasn't been anything shown on screen to firmly connect Discovery with the existing Prime canon. If they want to force the issue, someone will eventually have to come back and clean up their mess, like Enterprise introducing the augment virus.

... like Enterprise introducing the augment virus.

Enterprise is a pile of crap. The augment virus is stupid. It was the answer to a question no one asked. It never happened. Klingons have always had bumpy foreheads, and there is no inconsistency between the TOS movies, TNG, JJ movies, and Discovery. End of story.

It goes a lot farther than visual updates. There are entire technologies that are out of place -- like holodecks and holographic transmitters. But most damning of all is the behavior of the crew. Whatever else can be said, these characters do not hail from Roddenberry's universe. They are rude, unprofessional, vulgar Starfleet Officers with questionable morals and almost nonexistent ethics. No matter how you slice it, that's not the Prime Universe. IMO
