Large popcorn please. Yes, I would like some of your butter flavored grease.

I'm sorry. Frankly, I see none of that. The writing is good, but not that good, the acting (especially from the lead) needs work, the Klingons have been handled badly in writing and design and they lied about it fitting in with the timeline.Discovery is well written, well acted, they are re-imagining and exploring the Klingons, espousing on incredible new technology, exploring cross cultural differences between humans and Vulcans in a different and unique way. They've set up other elements so far to explore that I'm willing to bet are going to be very very interesting, particularly with Stamets.
Frankly I think it's creative and exciting. Just as much Trek as DS9.
I know many Trekkies who've been fans since the 60s who would say the exact opposite. Here's a cold hard fact for you: you are wrong. In that your opinion is not a fact.
Here's another fact: Star Trek is not about exploring space-- not to everyone. It is different things to different people.
Got a problem with that, old man?
Absolutely agree with this. I watch it for the mythos. I love the world of Star Trek. I don't give a shit about "exploring" which few shows since TOS really even did. It could be a medical drama set at a special Starfleet medical complex (or Starfleet Medical) or a series focusing on Starfleet Command and I'd tune in. I might not love everything equally, but I'd give it a real chance. Here's another fact: Star Trek is not about exploring space-- not to everyone. It is different things to different people.
Sorry, not and old man, nor am I wrong. It's called an opinion. Like yours and everyone else's on here.I know many Trekkies who've been fans since the 60s who would say the exact opposite. Here's a cold hard fact for you: you are wrong. In that your opinion is not a fact.

What you're wrong about is stating your opinion as fact that we should all just accept.Sorry, not and old man, nor am I wrong. It's called an opinion. Like yours and everyone else's on here.
And um, yeah. Star Trek, by it's frigging title, is about exploring space.

I didn't do that, no more than your proclamations about people liking one series over DSC and saying they're "so-called" fans of Trek. What you're wrong about is stating your opinion as fact that we should all just accept.

Also, no, not all Star Trek is about exploring. It really hasn't been just about exploring since TOS. TNG rarely actively engaged in exploring, DS9 didn't at all, Voyager was all about getting home and Enterprise, once it got its shit together, was about the founding of the Federation.
I made it clear that was my opinion. I said things like "as far as I'm concerned" and "what I'm hearing from that is...". You, on the other hand, just said "Sorry, it's all those things." And then you listed your "fan credentials" as if what you think is automatically law because you were born early enough in history to have watched Trek before some others.I didn't do that, no more than your proclamations about people liking one series over DSC and saying they're "so-called" fans of Trek.
God forbid someone like something more than Star Trek.
Yeah, I have to refill my meds. Thanks for reminding me.For an entire season Enterprise was about destroying the Xindi. And while that season was terrible, it had nothing to do with the nature of its story. Old Man Kirkus needs his brain medicine!
You are not the guardian of the TruFans. Knock that crap off.Every time I see an alleged Trekker/Trekkie calling this the better series, or more like real Trek, or whatever, I grow to hate Boreville even more.
It's a big scam, frankly, and those who've fallen for it... ooof, I'm sorry for you.
This is a wash, but you guys need to cool it, because it's pretty clear that you're implying that anyone who enjoys either show is an idiot. And that's just not nice.So should I say the same for those who have fallen for the unimaginative, flat, boring, dark and plodding DSC?
Got a problem with that, junior?
Does everyone need a big flashing neon disclaimer sign in all caps saying "THIS IS MY OPINION", or can we just take it as a given and not waste time stating the blindingly friggin' obvious every minute? Here's a cold hard fact for you: you are wrong. In that your opinion is not a fact.
Got a problem with that, old man?
Maybe those adult diapers failed you, because you're wrong, and on a fundamental level even a 5 year old whipper snapper would recognize. Read a dictionary, golden oldie!
And here Albinator goes the extra mile with the insults. I've warned you about this too many times to count, so you're getting another infraction for flaming. For someone who enjoys DSC so much you sure seem determined to flameout from one of largest places to discuss it.Old Man Kirkus needs his brain medicine!
^^^Sorry, not and old man, nor am I wrong. It's called an opinion. Like yours and everyone else's on here.

Can I disagree? I think it's implicit in so much of the premise and intro 'mission statement' that Star Trek is about exploring space. The journey naturally involves Starfleet and Federation objectives and the characters lives but space exploration is every bit a part of the reason for the journey.Star Trek is not about exploring space. Trek is about exploring the human condition, in a setting that happens to use outer space as a backdrop.
Even in TOS, so many of the episodes featured missions or incidents that had nothing whatsoever to do with actual exploration.

Yes the people and sense of family, how they deal with situations and the 'society' they represent and explore is where we get a loyalty. For me it's a happy combination. I get that plus the science fiction adventure.I would still say it's more about the people who are doing some exploration as part of their other myriad space-based duties, rather than the process itself.
Compelling drama is about people, not just about stuff that happens.
