Daredevil season 3 Marvel/Netflix

Season 3 has been confirmed at SDCC! There is a teaser at the link, but it's not on YouTube yet that I could find.

The Defenders teaser seemed to indicate that that show would be picking up season two's hanging Hand threads, leaving many possibilities open for season three. There is always the possible return of Wilson Fisk. "Born Again" would indeed be a great story to adapt. They've already cast Nuke, so...

Hopefully we'll get an MCU Bullseye, and they keep building up Melvin Potter, so perhaps some Gladiator action?.

Glad to hear, although I hope they will not do Born Again. Hoping to see Bullseye, though.

Good to hear that D'Onofrio is returning and I'm glad they're upfront about this time instead of trying to surprise us (when all of us figured/hoped he was coming back anyways).

It's a little jarring that the show is changing showrunners yet again, but Oleson looks like he has some good experience under his belt, so I'm not too worried. I noticed Drew Goodard is listed as an executive producer. Is actually involved again or it somehow a courtesy credit?

Well, he's the "creator" of the show, so I guess he still gets paid royalties for it (i.e. for the use of the version he created), which makes him an executive producer. Just as Bryan Fuller is an executive producer on Star Trek: Discovery. It used to be that a departed showrunner would get an "executive consultant" credit, but it seems everyone gets to be a producer these days.

I was surprised to see the change over in showrunner again, I was pretty happy with Season 2.
I'm thrilled Vincent D'Onofrio is coming back again, he is great as Kingpin.

Cool to see Kingpin back. I wonder what they'll do. A season away from the Hand would be refreshing. I'd like to see Bullseye introduced, he'd be a good secondary villain for the season.

I wonder if Will Simpson (AKA Nuke, though he hasn't actually been named that yet in the shows) will crossover or if maybe they'll keep him on Jessica Jones. They could probably replace him with Bullseye easily enough.

Hart of Dixie actor Wilson Bethel has been cast in a role that is speculated to be that of Stan Carter, aka the Sin Eater.

Sin Eater is a rather obscure character, although I remember him vividly. He appeared in two arcs totaling 7 issues in Peter David's run on Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man in the late 80s. The first four part arc guest starred Daredevil.

It's a pretty huge leap to connect that vague character description with the Sin-Eater -- who, after all, was a Spider-Man character, not a Daredevil character. It's amazing the absurd lengths media-news sites will go to in order to avoid just admitting that they have no idea what character an actor is playing.

"We have no idea but we'll guess" is kind of the standard M.O. of nerd news aggregators.

Sin-Eater isn't a terrible guess, though, since we know they're doing Born Again, they're going to have to make substantial changes to that storyline given the restrictions that Marvel's TV line has, and "ethically compromised character" is basically the peanut butter and jelly of the Netflix Marvel shows. What's more likely is that this is Bullseye.

Bullseye makes more sense, especially considering Charlie Cox has been pushing for the character to appear since the start.

Actually, we don't know they're doing Born Again. I'd argue the use of the iconic scene from halfway through Born Again at the end of Defenders undercuts that idea.

I'd also point out that, if it is Bullseye, he doesn't match this description at all. He also isn't in Born Again and would make as much sense in the story as Sin Eater.

The only thing I saw was back in August when he said there might be some elements from Born Again, but that's not really the same thing. If the story is just "The Kingpin finds out Matt's identity," that's fine, but it's not really Born Again. It just seems hard to have a story where the Kingpin systematically dismantles Matt's life given the life he currently has.

The final scene from Defenders came straight out of Born Again. However, in Born Again the scene came halfway through the story after Fisk ruined Matt's life.

Not really, considering the Punisher already figured it out in Daredevil season 2, Fisk was clearly on the brink of figuring it out, and it wouldn't be difficult for Fisk to rip apart the shreds of Murdock's life.

Really, the only parts of Born Again that are "difficult" are Karen Page becoming a crack whore, Marvel TV being unable to use Nuke and Captain America in their roles, and Ben Urich currently suffering from a mild case of death.

We're talking about a story that starts with Matt presumed dead. He has no job and wouldn't be likely to have a home. There isn't much of a life to tear apart at the moment.
