May I moan a bit?

Each one of Discovery is like a film, much of what I loved with Star Trek the Next Generation.
Can't believe they lost the 4k of it! We now only have grainy copies.
"Why complain?"
Coz I love complaining.
It's a way to get a discussion growing.

It's a bad steak!
It's not Star Trek
There is no 'trekking' it's about war

Star Trek, to me, is not about exploring space. It's about exploring the human condition. About exploring today's world, today's issues, today's culture, through a lens of tomorrow.

A war story is a perfectly valid premise to start from.

There's an episode of Enterprise, "Fusion" about a group of Vulcans who have embraced emotion. There's an exchange in this episode I think really exemplifies how I view Star Trek:

ARCHER: You said you were explorers?
TAVIN: Yes, but it's not space we're exploring. It's ourselves.

"to boldly go" words are not spoken during opening credits.

Doing good space exploration stories are going to be hard on a series set 10 years before TOS. What ground can they cover that wasn't done on TOS and TNG, and without contradicting those series? They can do some good space exploration episodes here and there, but tough to do that as the premise of the show given the timeframe.

It's like "what shall we write about now?... I dunno anything really, klingons seem to be popular... no idea"

Well, if by trekking, you mean walking around by foot, no.

If you mean traveling from place to place, they're working on a Magic Mushroom Drive to move farther than Warp Drive allows. That sounds like good trekking.

The mycelium drive dropped the ship into the universe, where, they did not know, they only knew that they were in a star system that contained three M class planets, none of which were on the charts 'oh shoot' said the navigator, 'according to my calculations, we will never ever be able to figure out where we are!'

What are you bitching about again? I swear, if all newbies want to do is bitch and whine, why don't they do it on Facebook like the rest of humanity does?

And? Were they not somewhere new and different?

Then a massive Klingon ship uncloaked, we're gonna kill you... haha said captain fantastic no you aren't and they zipped out of reality again, then they zipped back into reality again only to chide the Klingon. na naa na naa naaa. But the Klingon ship managed to disable their drive. duh....
