Nintendo NX / Switch Discussion

Hope they get that sorted out before Christmas! Or maybe it'll be Christmas 2018 before you can reliably find one.

If you're still looking for a Switch, as of right now the grey joy-con version is available on Amazon for Prime members only.

I hope the virtual console comes to the Switch I wouldn't mind playing Mario Party 4, Sunshine or Luigi's Mansion again.

This is in stock for 2 days then out of stock for 2 days at my WalMart.

Their chaos sales strategy is not going to work on me, I'm waiting for holiday deals.

I picked up a Switch today.

I was in Best Buy for something else, they had some stock, so I bought one. As I already have Zelda for the Wii U it is likely to sit in the box until Mario comes out, though I am tempted to give Splatoon a whirl . . . one day (so many games, so little time; my to-be-played pile is getting huge!)

My Brother is going to get one come the release of Mario so I can test his out and then if I like, buy one in 2018 at some point.

It's actually really not a chaotic sales strategy. The Switch is selling far beyond Nintendo's most optimistic projections both in Japan and North America, and it simply can't produce enough supply to meet demand. It's on pace to move at least 10 million units by the end of the year and Nintendo already had to bring at least one additional contract manufacturer online to assemble as many as possible, but there are still bottlenecks (the Tegra, most notably). There's no reason to believe the company is doing anything other than making as many Switches as it can.

FInally saw my first one in Best Buy the other day. Just couldn't talk myself into it. As amazing as Zelda looks, it would be about a $500 investment to play the one game by the time you buy the console, 'real' controller, the game, etc. Maybe by Black Friday there will be a bundle or something...

I'm a bit sad that there were not much in the way of 3rd party devs on this. I would have seriously considered it if we could have got a port of something like Bioshock or GTA type of game or such.

I know people who have bought it just for the Zelda game.

The family Christmas present showed up today. I was amused at how small the console is.

I've been poking around what is coming, and honestly haven't found a whole lot that interests me for the Switch. There's a port of a six-year old game, in LA Noire. But little beyond that right now. Which is disappointing.

Wolfenstein II is supposed to be coming sometime next year. But if I'm going to wait until next year to play it, I would buy a $20 copy for the Xbox One or PS4.

Right now, I feel like I've bough the Wii U all over again.

give it time, the Switch is going to have a significantly longer tail because it is significantly more successful as a platform

just don't expect 3rd parties to pivot their PS4 lead titles downwards because that (when it is even applicable) is not a profitable venture for the most part in the AAA space - AA and below can and will happen, also, I really hope you like smaller titles because the Switch is an amazing platform for indie titles - both mobile and more traditional ones

enjoy it for what it is (which isn't the Wii U), is what I'm saying ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
