Those are all quite beautiful. Can't wait to get them...someday.

Y'know, when the updated version of the Discovery appeared with the long nacelles it kind of struck me as weird looking. However, now that I've seen it in action, in full production mode, every time I see the original version with the stubby nacelles, I find that one to be way out of proportion and distorted. I find that I much more prefer the current version now, which surprises me.

i'm coming around on discovery myself. really stoked for a shenzhou, hope they have a complete prototype to show off this weekend.

that voyager looks less impressive than it should at this price point and size.

Could be a prototype, or early production model that didn't have all the kinks worked out yet. I think that happened to some other models earlier on in the series but can't remember which ones.

not to steal your thunder juventuz, but the fan group now has shots of the shenzhou:

really attractive ship, great sculpt, paint looks great.

and more of discovery:

I'd like to think so, but all the jumbo ships have suffered from the window issue. They just seem to have a problem with the tampo printing or whatever they use.

yeah they're pretty badly misaligned on the jumbo enterprise-E, can't imagine the jumbo voyager will be any different, even if the one we see here is a prototype or factory sample.

looking closely at the voyager photo, the details look soft to me. the E is a little soft herself, but voyager's blockier design seems to accentuate this. not to mention her less intricate paint job. again this is a fact of the actual design less than a fault in eaglemoss' rendering, but then there are little things. like the use of black highlights on the ribbing at the back of the saucer and on the warp pylons and pretty much all over. there is no black on the actual studio model. the transporter emitters are just flat tan rectangles rather than printed detail. the bussards are painted on rather than inset transparent plastic bits. there's some funny stuff going on here.

picky, picky, picky.

The Shenzhou is hilarious with those red racing stripes - I didn't notice those on screen!

Discovery might just be my favourite Star Trek ship since the Enterprise-D. She's got grace and elegance, and offers something different whilst fitting into the Starfleet design lineage.

Mmmmm.... Pretty!
It might just be me but discovery is waayyy too gold.
This may be the CG model's natural color. This and the high-saturation red racing stripes on the Shenzhou that @Tomalak mentioned are probably not as pronounced in the show itself due to more nuanced lighting effects being applied during the rendering process. Under 100% luminosity, however, they likely do look like this.

Reminds me of the shock everyone experienced when the Romulan Warbird filming miniature was found to be nearly a neutral gray at the Christie's auction, with just the faintest hint of a blue-green hue. It's saturated green tint was all the result of custom lighting and color correction in post production.

ben robinson said this morning on twitter that the paint ops are not final and that parts of shenzhou are too dark.

looking at those warp nacelles on discovery getting thinner going back ,i keep imaging it in the process of going to warp

Ah - well, that makes sense then. I did notice that the Discovery model on AfterTrek does appear to be the more screen-accurate darker bronze color than the bright gold version we see in these new photos. These may have even been hand-painted prototypes that needed to be rushed out in time for special events.

Agreed - it is a very sleek vessel and they succeeded in making it looking like it's going Warp 9 standing still. The nacelle mods from the original version we saw earlier in the year were definitely a good aesthetic choice on their part, IMO.

Interesting! Just got this email from Eaglemoss:
We're pleased to inform you that your Star Trek Discovery Starships Collection Welcome Package has been shipped from our warehouse and will arrive at the ship-to address specified in your order form within 7-10 business days.
What "Welcome Package" is this, I wonder? Anyone else get this?
