Hopefully this will not stray too far off this forum's mission statement, but spending a lot of time around here lately I wonder where people on either side of the spectrum – those who like the show so far and those who wished for something different – are coming from.

When someone loves/despises a Discovery character I immediately wonder what their favorite character from the earlier Star Trek shows is. Someone critiques the way the Discovery writers approach the story arc, so I'm going to be curious what your favorite shows are. I'm just trying to get a perspective on who you are as a Star Trek fan.

So, if you'll please indulge me, here are just a couple of quick questions:

I enjoyed the premiere episodes and love episode three.

2. What's your favorite Star Trek show?
Love all the shows, but would put Deep Space Nine at the top. Followed closely by the original Star Trek.

3. Who's your favorite Star Trek character?
Toughest question, but I will go with Kira, Sisko, Kirk and Spock for today.

4. What are your Top Five shows of all time?
(In no particular order: ) Frasier, Seinfeld, The Twilight Zone, Deep Space Nine, Homicide: Life on the Street

Yes, I like it so much.

I like them all except TOS. It's not the concept, but maybe because it's already old. Too old to my taste. It is similar to Star Trek TNG the first season. It's ugly, because it's already too old to my taste.

Who's your favorite Star Trek character?
Jeanluc Picard.

What are your Top Five shows of all time
You mean western TV show? Star Trek TNG, The Expanse, Game of Throne, The Last Kingdom, and MacGyver (Richard Dean Anderson version).
I have another TV Show (non western) that I like. But I think that it's irrelevant here.

Since you did, I assume we can list multiple characters as well. (Original) Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Data, Riker, Honorable mention to the Cardassion regulars on DS9 and Shran.

I'm not a fan of Michael Burnham (not yet at least), and I could seriously have done without the gore that was in the third episode. That said, yes, I do enjoy the show.

2. What's your favorite Star Trek show?
The Original Series, followed closely by Deep Space Nine.

3. Who's your favorite Star Trek character?
Captain James T. Kirk, Mr. Spock, Montgomery Scott, Benjamin Sisko, and Elim Garak.

4. What are your Top Five shows of all time?
Star Trek: The Original Series, Babylon 5, Robotech, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow.

Are you liking Discovery thus far?
Loving it. They've made a few artistic choices I disagree with, but I can find fault with every Trek series to date; I simply chose not to.

What's your favorite Star Trek show?
This might actually become it. But Star Trek: Deep Space Nine currently holds that rank. Parts of Star Trek Enterprise were amazing, too.

Who's your favorite Star Trek character?
Spock.
Or is it Gul Dukat? No, no, it's Elim Garak. No, wait a minute ... Lieutenant Arex!

Tough one. Firefly is probably in there. Then there's PBS' Nova. Star Trek TOS, and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine deserve mention. Doctor Who!

You know if you assume everyone here would mention a Star Trek series as one of their 'Top 5' (and take that as a given) then I'm missing a '5th' - so to round it out I was have to say for my 5th (Non-Trek* )'Top 5' show:

5* - The Adventures of Rick and Morty
(And yeah, I just got into it recently, but it's IMO got great humor - and is a real 'guilty pleasure of mine. Looking forward to its Season 4 that hopefully won't be 2 years to complete and show. )

Don't really have a single stand-out character, but always particularly liked McCoy, Picard, O'Brien, Dukat, Weyoun, Seven, the EMH and Trip.
