UK VHS 3 Eps Per Tape Query

It's 2 episodes per tape, as I was around to buy them from Woolworths here in town when they sold way back in the 90's.

And other than eBay, they'rer super rare to find in any good quality at all. And it's usually one tape at a time. I've never heard of anyone recently having a complete set they didn't get back in 1992 or so.

The transporter covered 1988-1996 version here is the one I got. I still remember going into the shop here and seeing dozens of VHS copies. It would have been about 1992-3 we would have been buying them, because we definitely had them before the summer of 1994 when I bought my Playmates Enterprise D and heard about Generations being released in the US.

Still think that any VHS release is going to be super hard to find.

The OP will be after the 1996-1998 rerelease, which had 3 episodes per tape - although, the same provision on rarity applies.
I remember that re-release! I think once you collected them all (I never did) it spelled out "we are the first to come this far" on the spines.
I was expecting a statement with a bit more oomph, to be honest

I'm so old, Star Trek was in b&w for the first five years, and you could only record the sound. Later, in the '80s I bought roughly half a dozen of the single-episode, transporter cover VHS tapes (U.S. ed.).

Oh I did back in 2001! A sci-fi shop in Bedford had most of them for a few pounds each so I went over and carried most of them home! The rest I found in other places and on the net but then in 2004/05 I got the beautiful clam shell DVDs! The only tape with three episodes was the final one but the second released tapes all had three episodes and forced commentaries by various Trek actors at the beginning of each episode I understand!

The Star Trek twitter account retweeted someone yesterday who had a complete collection of the 1988 versions too. No idea where they were from but there are some sets out there.

Hugely nostalgic for those 3 episode tapes, even though I only ever owned 3 of them; 1:7, 2:6, 2:8. Also had a poster featuring the cover art of 1:1 which I wish I'd kept!

Rare? No - Loads of these Trek VHS on ebay.uk - many starting prices for practically nothing (excl. postage).

I always preferred the look of the 2-episodes-per tape. Huge nostalgia for the 2-episode TNG tapes.

Strange these days how VHS tapes are so reviled now! Even the charity shop refuses to take the poor beggars in!!! :wah:
