Eaglemoss Graphic Novel collection

Just wondered if anyone else was collecting these and what your opinions of them were.

Overall I've been impressed with the quality and I do love the presentation of the books, especially reading the old Gold Key comics - obviously drawn by people with no clue what Star Trek looked like (rocket fire coming from the Enterprise nacelles???).

Only one issue has disappointed me (so far), and that's only because of the binding. Issue 10 (The Classic UK Comics pt 1) has a problem near the centre of the pages in that you can't read the dialogue.

I haven't gotten any of them, because every time I find one, it's a reprint of IDW Trek comics, all of which are still in print from IDW itself. One of the selling points of this collection was that it was to feature material long out of print. I know the Captain Pike/Early Voyages series either just came out or is due out soon, and I'll almost certainly pick that one up, but I really don't need the newer stuff.

Yeah, the way they've started with almost all IDW stuff is just strange to me. I would think it would have gotten people a lot more interested if they started with stuff that either has never been collected or hasn't been in print for decades.

As I'd never bought any of the comic books before and never knew where to jump on, I appreciate that the books are sort of like the comics' greatest hits.

I'm really hoping this is a sign Eaglemoss will be diving into more of the older material. Even some of the old DC stuff got collected in trades.

It'd be nice to see the regular DC series get collected. The Mirror Saga has been reprinted plenty of times, but the rest of it deserves to be collected as well.

They went with stuff that had already been cleaned up by IDW.
The problem was all of those first batch of issues you could just find on Amazon, and most a lot cheaper than the £9.99 price tag, so after the first 3 issues I was put off as it seemed kinda pointless.

Although retoenzo if you're still collecting them I'd love to see a picture of how the spine artwork is coming along :)

Where do you get yours from btw, do you subscribe? Just as I get my Trek Starships models/mag from either WHSmith or the newsagent nearby, and both sold the graphic novel collection for a while, but I never see it in either shop anymore. Seen as it comes out the same fortnightly day as the ships too. I guess it didn't sell as well.

For me, these have been great to have in nice hardcovers. Because I never owned anything by IDW. These are all nEW stories for me.

DC had also collected who killed captain kirk?, the first TNG mini series, the tabukan syndrome, TNG Albert Einstein lost shuttle story. I would love to see TNG war and madness collected.

Yeah, still collecting them. So far, the spine artwork is pretty much exactly what was in the advert in issue 1. Nothing really new has been added yet.

I know I'm probably in the minority but I'm hoping that they'll release Assimilation2 as part of the crossover series. So far, I've had the Green Lantern and Planet of the Apes crossovers. I think there's another superhero-ey one coming up but I'm really hoping that the Doctor Who one comes out.

I don't know if they would, ever since IDW lost the Dr. Who license Assimilation2 has pretty much disappeared. The TPBs are no longer in print, and it's disappeared off all of the digital comics stores.

I am collecting them ATM as i have a love of comics and missed alot of the trades the last few years and there doing some of the harder to find ones But i to was finding it strange that they started with the already still out at IDW stuff i would have started with fan Fav or some thing Hard to get But happy so far

my guess is since those have already been formatted for a trade release, they were easier to upgrade to hardcover. It gets the collection going faster. But volume 21 was the first 8 issues of the Voyager Marvel run, volume 22 will be the TNG/DS9 Divided We Fall mini from wildstorm, and volume 25 will be the first 5 issues of the DS9 marvel series. So they are starting to get to some never-before released stuff. I don't mind getting the IDW stuff; i never bought any of those comics.

I just resubscribed. Going from #10 onwards (as I have 1-9) :)

Really impressed they are now doing stuff that has never been reprinted before!

Thee X-Men ones are also off the radar, they weren't on the PDF DVD.

Has anyone else had problems getting in touch with the Eaglemoss customer service department? I restarted my subscription this month but no money has been taken and no books have been recieved.

I've emailed them a couple of times and I've tried calling the number to no luck.
