The New USS Discovery....

In that angle, the central sphere really does look like someone accidentally half-melted a Malteaser though, doesn't it.

Higher resolution shot of the Eaglemoss Discovery thanks to Ben Robinson!

Could they not mount it via a hole in the bottom?

Understandable, but clips can break, plus, couldn't those clips scratch the model?

The clips themselves seem pretty sturdy. If you shove the model onto the clips, you can definitely scuff the paint, but if you're gentle with it, it shouldnt.

i’ve got about 30(?) eaglemoss ships, only one stand has broken and yeah it was the clips. however i much prefer the eaglemoss stands to an alternative that plugs in to the model itself, makes the product feel more complete, less toyish.

these are superior products all around.

Android crewmember!

Wicked design! I like it!

And an Engineer and a Lieutenant judging by the badge and uniform colouring.-
Isn't that science silver plus the science globe icon on the badge?

? so they have an android and this robot fellow too? https://i1.wp.com/www.tor.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/discovery-shenzhou-robot.jpg?type=vertical sounds like trouble will brew between these two.
That actually doesn't seem to be a robot but someone with some sort of VR helmet.

While doing my weekend shopping I just came across a German TV guide magazine that had an article about Discovery. The author apparently was part of the set tour a few weeks ago. One tidbit they are reporting is that the Discovery has a crew complement of 130 to 145 Starfleet officers. Has this been reported anywhere else?

Hallmark put up a video announcing the Discovery as next year's ornament. Towards the end it has a couple renders from new angles.

Very nice! Some angles work better than others, but overall I've really begun to appreciate the bold direction they are going with this. It's also interesting to see that they seem to have scaled up the bridge module compared to when we first saw the design, shrinking down the ship in the process.

Judging by the new pictures of the model the ship looks to be fairly small if that dome is actually the bridge.

Also, blue bussards. Ewww.

Yeah, the angles are definitely making or breaking this model. Flat on, it's ok. But, it's a tough go.

Also, love the blue highlights on the tech!

Yeah, the window at the front of the dome matches the shape of the same on the bridge from the last behind the scenes video. If that render is accurate it looks to be on the small side.
