Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

So do we actually know it is the same model with a different pod concerning the Nebula models? I seem to remember individuals giving out/worrying/down right panicking that the Saratoga was the same model as Reliant, but they ended up not being so.
we don't know for sure, but it definitely looks like it's the same ship with a new pod stuck on.

i was bummed the original model didn't reproduce the nebula-class physical model's proportions, but had hope this one would. don't think it's the case, so i'm happy not to double dip.
Same for that Phase 2 Enterprise. It's just the TOS model with the Refit nacelles. I'm not really bothered.
except i am gonna go for this double dip, who knows why.

i'm sort of relieved my interest in most of the upcoming ships is low, so i don't feel too bad about the whole discovery subscription thing and also buying the occasional $75 jumbo.

i am eager for details on the star trek beyond enterprise since these specials are being cranked out like there's no tomorrow.

Comparing it to the Saratoga/Miranda is a good thing.

These two are physically (and CGI-wise for the later Miranda) the same model, just with different modular equipment.

The physical Phoenix and the later CGI-Nebulas (made by Rob Bonchune) are different in their structure. The CGI has the Galaxy saucer, whereas the physical Nebulas had a different window arrangement et al.

Thus, reusing the Miranda mold for the Saratoga would’ve been okay. But for the Phoenix it makes a noticeable difference.

Now, I’m not complaining. Merely observing.

I also hope/wish Eaglemoss doesn't use the same USS Honshu model for the USS Phoenix but even if they do I have to buy the Phoenix.

Not only is it one of my favorite TNG models from one of my favorite TNG episodes but I also feel my fleet is vulnerable without an AWACS ship! :D

^ Well, both preview model image and cover show the Bonchune Nebula with Phoenix pod. It would surprise me if the actual product looked markedly different from that.

Are these supposed to be XL in size? I missed that. If not, there's no way I'm buying these ships for those prices.

Whoa, $55 is a bit steep. I guess I'll only try to get Shenzhou and Discovery then. :(

So these are what we can expect as models I'm guessing

They said "8 to 10 inches" for the Discovery models so about XL Size. Still $ 1350 for the initial 30 ships is a tough pill to swallow. They better not have any painting issues.

Is it realistic that the single models will cost $ 55 ? I mean the page does not say that this will be the non-subscription price but the SRP. I don't know if the SRP is more relevent in the US but here in my country a SRP is just a marketing gag - a fictive price to compare and to highlight how good an offer the normal sales price ist.

As the normale US price for the standard specials is $ 44,95 and therefore identical to the "discounted subscription price" i tend to think that $ 44,95 will also be the price in the online shop for the single models. Yes, the discovery models are longer than the normal specials but more than a third of the lenght is made of thin nacelles.

You are not forced to buy them.

True. The problem for Eaglemoss will be that while I will probably order the Discovery Subscription, I will probably drop the XL line, and the Medium sized "special" line. I suspect that this will happen a lot. It might very well be that this is their calculation anyway.

I think I'm only gonna get the Discovery, the Shenzhou and the Klingon Sarcophagus. For one $45-$55 is steep and it's on top the regular and special/XL line of ships that I buy each month.

And that's coming from a collector that plans to buy each and every one of the more obscure Wolf 359 ships. :weep:
