Okay, you guys! GET THIS!
"Orville" referenced "Star Wars" in the second episode. Which means: Star Wars is part of the universe.
Does that mean: "Star Trek" is part of that universe too? So the characters in this show know "Star Trek" as a TV show? Will they reference it?
... will they even confirm in one episode: "We have food synthesizers, pleasent looking ships, The Union, because our culture was inspired by Star Trek!"

Yep. I watch almost zero hours of live TV.
When I wrote "gay", I meant from a human standpoint. Bortus is male gender and so is his husband. From the standpoint of Bortus' people, of course, "gay" likely has no meaning;

They actually did in the first 6 or so episodes of the first season of TOS IF you watch them in Production order and not airdate order. Also originally TOS - "Tomorrow Is Yesterday" was planned to take place (and reference) the event at the ending of TOS - "The Naked Time" but yeah both GR and NBC didn't think having episodes tied together like that was a good idea.

There's no evidence of that. You're just guessing.
According to reports, Fuller was fired because he was so late with scripts because he was working on that other show.

Star Trek belongs to CBS. CBS wants a Star Trek series to launch their streaming service. They hired Kurtzman to make one for them. He hired Fuller. Fuller was let go for holding up the train. Then they changed it all so much that the only positive thing he'll say about the show is that he liked seeing the casting of SM-G and Yeoh.
None of that is in dispute. None of it.
I'm sorry, whose name is it that you'd like to append "Vision" to this time around - you know, as in "Gene's Vision?"

Oh, very crying out loud. Can we stop bashing Discovery, a show no one here has even seen yet and is being judged solely on the trailers, in a thread about The Orville? If I wanted this stupidity, I'd continue visiting the Discovery forum. 
I'm not bashing the show. Again, what part of what I posted is in dispute? That it's a product owned by CBS that they're spending tens of millions of dollars on with the purpose of increasing their streaming subscriber base? That Fuller was let go? That he declines to speak positively of what he's seen of the show other than to praise the casting?
Do you think there's a place on TrekBBS where we won't be talking about Discovery in the next week? Hell, there are two topics devoted to it in TNZ.
It's not just you. It's a whole bunch of people who keep dragging Discovery into this thread so they can bash it down and it's getting really tiresome.

There's not a shred of evidence in what you wrote or elsewhere that they "overruled the folks making it" to force their viewpoint on them. That IS disputed. In fact, quite the opposite because the showrunners have said that many of Fuller's idea remains in the show. So, nope to you buddy. You're just guessing to support your rationalization for not liking the show before it airs.
It's notable that you can't reference a reputable source to support your guess.

Why is the Orville even being compared to Discovery? They both take place in space....the end. They're not going to be anything alike.
