The Strain (Guillermo del Toro's New FX Summer Show)

That was a legit decent episode right there. I'm not quite sure how Setrakian would survive what he did to himself but that was entertaining. And a lack of Zack is just icing on the cake.

Yeah, I was surprised myself, there was nothing über-stupid, annoying or tedious in this ep, it was a good one.

This was a good setup episode, the pieces are being put in place to let the last two episodes come to a conclusion. Everyone is together now, Eichorst and Setrakian have had their moments and this seems right as it always seemed their feud was the strongest, most of the dead weight has been cast off and we're set to go.

I wonder where they're going with Zack, I feel he's gotta go but I'm not sure it will be Eph's sacrifice or if maybe they can somehow do something with him. Maybe some kind of poetic justice, could Zack end up sacrificing himself to trigger the nuke to take out the Master? I don't think he's ever show much strength of character but maybe out of spite or something with how he's been manipulated?

Unfortunately a bit of a let down--unless there's total redemption next episode. Paint by the numbers and gullibility extraordinaire. And a poorly choreographed super-Stregoi fight. I'm a little harder on this given how good the rest of the season has been. Crossing fingers for a spirited finale!

I like that the series is making good on wrapping up loose ends and further concentrating on the main players going into the ultimate episode. I guess on one hand its predictable but I've seen enough shows go down unsatisfactorily it's refreshing seeing the pieces all fall in place for the final showdown. Looking forward to see it wrap up next week.

i just noticed that Zack (well the current actor) looks like he could be used to portray CArl on The Walking Dead if they needed to do a flashback...

So... this is the end, huh?

Not going to say a lot right now..just a couple of things:

Eph -- what the EPh? He nearly eph'ed up the plan... but the son redeemed him!

And i was hoping those two would have named a baby or two after one of our fallen heroes..especially as it was supposed to be 5 years later.

That was a strong finish. The kid redeemed himself. Too bad Eph and Quinlan had to die. Well the show had the guts to kill some of the protagonists like Setrakian and Dr Martinez.

The show had a good start and now it has a good end to the series.

Well, I called Zack pulling the trigger but didn't anticipate the exact circumstances. I think ultimately that Eph and Zack's fate felt right though and the series ended well.

I was disappointed in the 4th season, to be honest. We had all this build-up for the Lumen and it was barely needed to affect anything. A nuke will kill the Master? Gee, that's a stretch, who'd think that? And after the Master himself used a nuke against the Ancients our heroes could have reached that conclusion themselves. I expected more origin story for the Master and Ancients. Ah well.

A better epilogue delivery than the Orphan Black finale, but otherwise an ably directed, paint-by-the-numbers finale. Kind of rushed.

But still a guilty pleasure through and through.

The epilogue was a nice touch and it was fine but everything in this episode up to the final five minutes felt like it was leading to another episode that could lead to the finale. This felt so rushed.

Zach is still not redeemed to me seeing as he jump started it by setting off that nuke in the first place. So all he really did was clean up a mess he helped create because he was a petulant child who nearly doomed the entire human race being upset with daddy.

That he sacrificed himself was good but it isn't a redemption. There were so many bodies along the path to this ending and Zach contributed a fair share to it.

It's too bad about Quinlan, being there right before to the end but not quite far enough to see his goal accomplished in defeating The Master.

I must have missed what happened to Zach's mom. Did she get off'ed this season? She just seemed to go away... I'll admit I dozed through a couple of episodes and didn't bother to rewind the parts I missed..

I guess The STrain had a double meaning for you and me.

Umm, I think Eph killed her...that's why Zach sided with the Master.

Man....sorry I wasted so much time with this show...totally not worth it

Well, I know he killed her initially after she had been infected, but the Master brought her "back" the point where she could almost act completely human and help shepherd Zach... I thought I saw her earlier this season, but nothing after that...

Zach was seeing a hallucination or something similar induced by The Master. She was dead permanantly after Eph decapitated her.
