Speculation on other Starships we might encounter?

I thought he was just listing a Vulcan ship, an Andorian ship and a Terran ship - as an example for how he hoped naming conventions would be, and not just named after Terrans 99% of the time (I can only think of 3 ships named after non-Terrans - the T'Kumbra, the Sarek and the Gorkon).

I get it. However, there are no canon Federation ships named T'Pol, Solkar, or Shran. I don't know where he got those names from.

I predict were going to see enough advanced Federation ships to utterly smash TOS' "There's only 12 like her" and "a Starship is a very special type of ship." comments.

There'll be hundreds and they'll all be as capable as the classic Enterprise.

These ships seem smaller than the Enterprise and judging by what little we can see, their weaponry and probably shield strength seems inferior. But that's going by very, very short clips compared to some few combat episode of TOS and the performance of USS Defiant in the Mirror Universe against Earth, Vulcan, Andorian, and Tellarite ships a hundred years or more older than it.

Er, the Intrepid was named after several American naval ships. It's not an "alien" name. Maybe you were confused because the TOS Intrepid had an all-Vulcan crew.

Or in universe all ships were translated from their planetary origin into Federation Standard. I doubt humans are the only species with the words Intrepid in their language.
After all why would Vulcans name their ships after ancient American naval ships?

Well there have been non-human ship names in TNG and DS9
And since Discovery is set just under 100 years of the founding of the Federation they should exist in Discovery as well. TOS has an excuse since they made up what the Federation and Starfleet stood for as they went along.

Discovery is a new show they can have ships with whatever names they want both old and new. And he is a she.

If the Star Trek Enyclopedia is to be believed, then the Vulcan freighter T'Pau is an Apollo class starship. Why would Vulcans name a Vulcan ship class after a Greek god?

But you weren't talking about ships in Discovery. You were giving random ship names named after alien people as if they were already mentioned before in previous Trek shows when I don't believe they were.

And if you can let me know the magical way one can determine the sex of a person online without seeing them or asking them, please let me know :)

I never stated such ships were part of the franchise.

That's easy. The Apollo class was a class of Federation starships, not a class of Vulcan made ships.

The T'Pau and her other two sister ships were specifically referred to as Vulcan freighters in Unification. The T'Pau had Vulcan markings. The same ship was seen again as the Vulcan freighter Eddington escaped in in an episode of DS9. They were Vulcan ships.

"The Apollo-class was a class of Federation starship in operation during the 24th century.

They were in Starfleet service by the 2320s through the 2370s. (TNG: "Tapestry"; DS9: "In the Pale Moonlight") They were used on missions of deep-space exploration. (TNG Season 4, display graphic) The Vulcan National Merchant Fleet and the Maquis also utilized them as freighters and transports."

I am pretty sure they retconed that only 12 ships out in the movies or in other shows. Or the class could been a failure, that would be the only reason to really have just 12. She was 20 years old by TOS, so either it failed, got retconned or only 12 were left

It hasn't been retconned yet AFAIK.

Then it was a failed ship class. You don't make just 12 of x type of cruisers without a reason just to make 12. Not when you are the size of the federation. And then you do not refit a whole class as extensively as it was claimed in TMP and then decommission in just 8 years later. Not unless its heavily flawed or something.

There may have only been 12 at the time of that episode, there may have been more that were destroyed, or more built after.

At the time of TOS its a 20 year old design. I do not seem them building more,, but they could have been more in the past that were decommissioned or destroyed. People get in their head from fan canon and non-canon books that the Constitution class was top of the line and the most advanced in the fleet or the flag ship or something, when on film we do not see this being the case.
