Bridge Tour Promo

kirk55555, they only thing that's more advanced and modern is the lighting of the sets, the widescreen format and overall direction. We have seen so little from how the technology works, why do you keep insisting it is more advanced than TNG? We've seen buttons, levers, and props closely resembling TOS (of course you claim they're remotely resembling)... I don't think DSC is more advanced, but the overall artistic LOOK is more advanced; it looks like a big budget movie from 2017, not a TV show from the '60's, '70's, '80's or '90's... I really think you don't understand the entertainment industry, even though you like to convince everyone with your fired-up posts that WE and the ones making the show don't understand or have any knowledge, and that YOU are the ONLY one who understands... That's why discussing with you gets good fans (like RAMA) in trouble: it is impossible to converse with you without getting personal in some way, 'cause your posts are written from a pretty condescending, almost narsissist perspective ("You say you like DSC, but it is horrible").

And here I am, excited as hell over DSC, and again, you've got me all rattled up.. It's not because of what you say, it's because of how you say it... and maybe it's because of some genuine frustration on my part over why you come here? I mean, you hate DSC, you hate it down to every little detail, and even if the premiere is going to kick-ass, I find it doubtful you would change your attitude.

I will never accept terrible work or bad design, period. STD gets no pass from me. They didn't put in the quality of work Trek deserves so they'll get the criticism they deserve. For this and every other thing they've completely screwed up.

Well, that's an opinion. It's design that doesn't conform to YOUR expectations but I'm not certain to suggest that makes it "bad design."

Since design is subjective in its appreciation, it would be a place of disagreement.

Kirk55555 will always speak from his opinion, even if it comes across as speaking for the majority.

Knock this crap off, immediately. K5's, as frustrating as he can be, is not responsible for RAMA's infraction. RAMA has no one else to blame for his current predicament than himself. He has gotten "personal" with anyone that doesn't fall 100% in lockstep with his unflinchingly positive assessment of everything relating to DSC, and numerous infractions this year alone combined with countless verbal "friendlies" from the mod staff have not convinced him to temper his behavior one bit. He's gotten more chances to change than any dozen posters on this board. He refuses, and flat out tells the mods that he refuses. I admire his enthusiasm and promotion of the show as well, but if it's coupled with a toxic criticism and insults of anyone that expresses any doubt or negativity, no matter how mild (and I know K5's is not that), than it's no longer a productive trait.

Now, no more comments about board related issues like infractions and such. Stick with the show.

I'm fine with disagreement. My point being: you don't have to LIKE the work in order to appreciate the effort put into it. There are a few things I don't love about the design on Discovery but I appreciate that there was much love and care for and a ton of work out into it. The designers have a hard job, creating a world that takes our modern sensibilities into account while at the same time having a half a century of work behind it. To add to that, were Star Trek fans. There was going to be a part of that community that wasn't happy no matter what they did because it didn't meet THEIR expectations. That will never change, unfortunately. And frankly, that's not on the shoulders of the designers. It's on the fans.

In my experience, it is an emotional reaction, so it won't match with that logic. It simply is a violation, in an emotional sense, of what makes a property that property, Star Wars, Star Trek, etc.

You're right-it is on the fans and their opinion but disagreement simply isn't leading anywhere productive or positive-unfortunately. It isn't a mutual exchange of ideas.

Unfortunately the internet has caused us to lose the ability to have intelligent discourse. We're quick to rely on our emotions as opposed to thinking logically and being able to talk through issues.
