Welcome to the 155th edition of the Trek BBS Fan Art Challenge! Inspired by users @Finn and @Laura Cynthia Chambers I'm calling this month's theme “Tomorrow's News”:

What are the headlines in Star Trek's future? What news move the people of the 22nd, 23rd or 24th century? And how do they learn about them? Subspace radio? LCARS tabloids? Press releases from Starfleet's public relations office? Jake Sisko's vlogs?

As always, the challenge is to illustrate these unseen aspects of Star Trek. Either choose a big event from inside the fictional Trek universe or pick a current headline from our all-too-real world and plant it into Trek. (Only one restriction, though: Please nothing too political or TNZ-like.)

    Questions, suggestions, feedback?

For a long time, I've had this idea of having a 24-hour news network that told TODAY'S news, but in a future setting: "On this date, 200 years ago..."

This should be fun... We've had Trek political ads as a theme before, and I did one that showed a news broadcast on-screen for a mirror-universe Borg story.

It's got several news broadcasts, scrolling tickers, etc. Try around the 0:27 mark.

    So, any takers? :)

Unfortunately I didn't find time yet to really think about my entry. Definitely would like to enter, though.

Nice find! Hadn't noticed these in the movie. Some neat references in there! Here, I took some screenshots …

I posted a couple of entries, but I'll probably enter the second one.

This was something I wanted to do for a long while. I’ll try see if I can throw something together by Saturday night.

Thanks for sharing these! They might be helpful. :techman:

That “Press and Information” logo looks familiar. Where might I know that from?

It'd be awesome if you'd enter something! :)

If no-one minds, I think I will extend the submission period for a few days. I'm thinking at least until Monday. I would like to throw something together as well, but it's been a busy month and I haven't found the time. This weekend I might get the chance to do something for the contest.

    - Same here! I'm hoping to find some time tomorrow to come up with something (I have a vague idea...), but don't delay the deadline just for me in case I don't get around to doing anything :)

Ah, okay. I knew I had seen them before somewhere! :)

Great, would love for you to enter, too! I plan on posting the voting thread sometime on Monday. Please let me know if you need more time. I have no problem waiting a few more days if it means more entries. Same for you, @Finn! :)

Nah, we can't have that! :D

Here's my take on the theme. Hope you guys like it …
