Discovery in Variety

You obviously cut off the part of my post that states...

Nice form.

You completely missed the point that I was only talking about Discovery only in my post. So what if every other ship in the fleet is a death trap, I was only refering to Discovery's own arrangement.

But, obviously, it would be a failure long term. It would have to be based on what else has happened in the Prime universe.

Delted a post. Got confused about what was in each post.

Delted? that's a new one.

But, obviously, it would be a failure long term. It would have to be based on what else has happened in the Prime universe.

What are you blathering on about? The one and only point I made was that this series would not be relying on the warp core breach drama on Discovery herself, that's it.

You are so combative. At pretty much any post that challenges/questions what you think.

All they have to do to not rely on "warp core breaches" as drama, is to simply not write about it. They don't need to do anything else.

Wondering why you quoted me in the first place last page. I know other ships have warp core drama, and a lot of fans are bored of it being used as a plot point. This series has found a reason to not have it so they can just get on with the story, which is awesome news and a fun new design of ship.

It also answers our questions, to an extent, over the new way to fly line in the trailer.

We don't know at all that this design "was a failure" as you claim, since we've never seen it before.

And can you please stop using "U mad bro" as deflection against actually answering me, dragging out unnecessary complaints about the new show, making unrelated or unnecessary remarks or otherwise derailing the discussions?

I'm having a good week, I'm in a better mood than I have been in for weeks and part of it is getting to discuss Discovery, but you quoted me and dragged me into this, again.

How terrible for you.

Don't post if you don't want people to reply to them. Or put those you dislike on ignore. Easy.

Iignore. Easy.

Why?

Literally all I said was I liked the idea of Discoverys new warp drive as it would avoid warp core drama, that's it. You felt the need to quote me to claim the design was a failure, which you don't know since this is a new concept. I don't know why you felt the need to quote me instead of RAMA who posted the news, or point out something obvious.

People talk about Discovery within the context of the rest of the franchise it is supposed to line up with. Not seeing anything out-of-bounds or out-of-line? Maybe you can explain it to me.

You're the one that got upset.

I am not upset, and am I not telling you not to discuss the show. Those are deflections and borderline trolling so please stop it.

I made a comment to no one in particular that this ship uses a totally unique to Star Trek engineering setup, which sounds new and interesting. You cannot compare it to the "rest of Trek" because this arrangement does not appear anywhere else, it's new.

So why did you quote me to point out the obvious that single reactor designs fail often inT Trek?

My whole point was this won't be happenig this time, that is all.

Honestly I cannot get where you're coming from here.

So why did you quote me to point out the obvious that single reactor designs fail often inT Trek?

I was pointing out that whatever they're doing obviously doesn't work within the rest of the franchise.

Holy shit! One Star Trek fan responds to a comment another Star Trek fan makes. The audacity of it all!

Anyways it was the Shenzhou that had two reactors, not the Discovery.

The Shenzhou is older then the Discovery.

I was pointing out that whatever they're doing obviously doesn't work within the rest of the franchise.

You literally cannot know that since this reactor design is totally unique. Reactor breaches might be incredibly rare on anything but an Enterprise, so single ones may not be anywhere near as danngerous as they make out anyway.

We only pay attention to the vehicles that crash on the news afterall.

Since dual-reactors are never mentioned/seen again, there has to be something about them that doesn't work.

It's because this is a new show that changes aspects of the franchise. And that we saw all of 20-30 of over 80,000 engineering rooms. 60% of the fleet could have one and we'd never know.

It's because this is a new show that changes aspects of the franchise.

Then what exactly is the point of it being Prime, if it is ignoring things from the Prime universe? I'll simply never understand the adulation of names and dates for a fictional franchise?

Again, the Shenzhou is older then the Discovery,

Nothing yet says the Discovery has two cores. It could have been an older design style that was phased out.

At least I'm assuming that console image is from the Shenzhou, it has a big diagram of the ship on it after all.

It could have been an older design style that was phased out.

It does seem like something Starfleet should've phased back in, once it became apparent that their warp cores were made of tissue paper.

Again, the Shenzhou is older then the Discovery,

Uh, the Discovery is 1031 and Shenzhou is 1227 so she's newer.

And this is all because RAMA posted an article upthread where they mention Discovery has multiple engineering rooms and cores. The one picture we have of the set looking so small kind of makes sense now.
