That's an amazing design, it instantly became one of my favorite non-canon ships! i would love to see how the bridge looks like. :D

Looks like it was based on the Ingram class Heavy Cruiser - the fan-made blueprints that came out that supposedly explained what happened after the Excelsior experiment failed and went back to the drawing board. Very nice variation on the original.

The lower sensor dome has a bit more of the TOS smile--as I call it.

Hey guys! In my ongoing effort to tidy up the forum I'm unpinning this thread from the top of the forum list. The goal is to make the forum less cluttered and hence more accessible to old and new users alike. Having to scroll past a number of pinned threads at the top each time to get to the actual threads is kind of counterproductive to this goal – and it doesn't help that some of them only have very low activity anyway (not necessarily this one though, mind you).

I honestly hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes with this decision, but of course it's not like the thread will somehow disappear. Every time you post here the thread bumps to the top, just like with any other thread. I do think the blueprints are a valuable resource for all artists visiting here, I'm just not convinced they should be at the top permanently. Plus, there's really no reason why this thread specifically should be pinned, while other resource threads are not (like for example the set blueprints thread).

When I get around to rework the content of the “Inspiration and Information” thread into a “Tips and Resources” section of the new FAQ thread, I will make sure to link to this thread as a helpful tool. And since nine years ago @Ptrope originally intended to pin this thread only “for a while” anyway, I'll just go ahead and unpin this now. :)

^ :( I'm sorry, guys. I really am. Please don't be mad at me. I just hope you can see where I'm coming from with this. And again, the thread isn't closed or deleted or anything like that. Keep it up with new posts and it will be just as visible.

For what it's worth I think it's a swell idea cleaning up the forum like this - even if this is one of my favourite threads.

M, I'm with you. If it's being updated it will be at the top anyway. If it's not, it's not enough of an "historical" resource.

If it was a collection of more disparate sites I might have a different opinion.

Obviously I'm a fan of this thread, so I'd still like to see it bumped, a lot. :)

Most of the links do go back to the Cygnus-X1 archive anyway, admittedly. If people haven't figured that out by now, they've clearly not been paying attention for the past decade!

Hmmm ... I understand the need to clean up, but how about an alternate solution: change the title to include something like "REFERENCE". Then if this and other reference-related threads scroll off the front page, anyone who needs them can do a generic search on titles containing "REFERENCE" and get a list of unpinned, but handy threads!

Excellent idea! The set blueprints thread could use this change as well.

I like the idea. Although, wouldn't “RESOURCE” be a more apt tag?

Also, as I said, I plan to reorganize the “Inspiration & Information” thread into a more neatly arranged section of the FAQ thread, with links to helpful tools and resources. This and the set blueprints thread will of course get a prominent position in there. ;)
