Reddick was another guy who gave the A's an identity. The current roster reminds me of the A's circa 1993, a year in which Rickey Henderson was traded, and Mark McGwire spent most of the year on the disabled list with a badly bruised heel. The A's home run leaders that year were Ruben Sierra and Troy Neel, who was in the news fairly recently because he was delinquent on child-support payments. Apparently, he was hiding out at a resort he owned on a small island east of Australia.
So I haven't watched much baseball this year, but are the Dodgers really that much better than everyone else?
If they go .500 the rest of the way, they'll wind up around 110 wins; if they go ham the rest of this month and September--not outside the realm of possibility, since they have 17 games against the Phillies, Padres and Giants--they have an outside shot at setting the single-season win record.

Fulmer wasn't even warned for plunking Sanchez (which, in and of itself, was obvious retaliation), while Kahnle was immediately ejected for throwing behind Cabrera? Sloppy thinking on Carlos Torres' part.
The umps lost control of that game. These idiots need to go.

And Miguel Cabrera isn't blameless in this, either. You'll notice that when Kahnle threw behind him, Cabrera didn't even flinch. He was obviously not surprised to be hit. And yet a short while later, he gets all in Austin Romine's face and shoves him?

^I don't get what Cabrera was so upset about. He clearly expected to be hit, so there was no reason for him go postal like that unless Romine said something to him that wasn't caught on camera.
I don't blame Girardi for being pissed. If the umpires had issued a warning after Sanchez was hit, it's less likely Cabrera would have been thrown at because no one would have wanted to risk an ejection.

Rookie umpire made a huge mistake not warning the benches after Sanchez was hit. Fulmer has excellent control and this isn't the first time he's thrown at the Yankees this year alone. He also faked an injury after the throw to distract everyone and avoid getting tossed. Sanchez was real dumb, though, for throwing punches while Cabrera was down, and he'll probably get the longest suspension out of any of them.
Betances will probably be sitting a while for headhunting, too.

That's ... impressively not at all in sync with precedent. Sanchez should be sitting as long as Miggy, considering he was throwing sucker punches, and Wilson getting a suspension while Betances gets off after hitting a guy in the head with a 98mph four-seamer is bonkers.
Can't say I blame Girardi for being pissed. Segura was waving all over the base line, and it seemed obvious he interfered with Didi's throw to first. (Maybe not intentional, but I don't care.)
