The 1970s buddy cop series Starsky & Hutch is eyeing a TV return with a reboot shepherded by The Guardians Of the Galaxy franchise writer-director James Gunn. Sony Pictures TV Studios is behind the revival series project, which is currently being pitched to broadcast, cable and streaming networks with multiple interested.

James Gunn is attached to possibly direct subject to availability.

Everything will be rebooted eventually. What's next...Barreta?

I don't see how S & H could possibly exist outside of the 70's zeitgeist that originally birthed it. Moving it to the modern age just doesn't seem right, IMHO.

FWIW, I actually liked the Ben Stiller / Owen Wilson movie.

So every week a cop in a cardigan gets a pimp to solve crimes for him?

Make Huggy Bear gay, and his prostitutes gay men, and it might fit well into the modern era, without protest.

His name is "Bear" ffs.

Oh holy crap, make it stop.
Maybe they'll reboot...Star Trek . Ducks.
In all seriousness I would love a period 'Starsky & Hutch' film made in the spirit of 70s cop shows such as 'The French Connection'. I was a huge fan of the original show and used to watch every episode religiously on Saturday nights on BBC One. I have every episode (and the film) on DVD and a Corgi model of the red Ford Gran Torino - which is a must inclusion for any rebooted show.

First Lethal Weapon, then Miami Vice, now this. It's like the reboots are going further back in time with each one. Presumably Dragnet next?

I wouldn't mind Banacek, I enjoyed those.

I believe they did Dragnet with the bloke who played Al Bundy on Married... With Children a couple of years back.

You're right they did but these will be the second reboots for both Miami Vice and Starsky and Hutch too (albeit that both were previously rebooted as films rather than TV series).

^^ Indeed, and , while I liked Baretta, I liked Toma more.

Starsky & Hutch was one of my favorite shows when it was on the air, and not just because it made my nickname cool (go ahead, somebody say it). It really needs to be set in the 70s (the untold adventures of S&H) to be valid for me. And I don't really think that the 70s-era sensitivity of the characters and their relationship would fly in the 21st century (although it would be great to see). Needless to say, I am not optimistic.

I can't wait for the Cannon reboot, but this time he is a fitness nut who drives a mini, dresses in tracksuits, has massive sideburns, and only speaks in Greenlandic norse, and his weapon of chose is a actual cannon that he has miniaturised that he loads with ball and powerder while chasing the villian every week....and here is the gimmick, as the weekends he puts his collar on and becomes a actual canon........BOOM!........and there we got our hit reboot.

Can't wait. lol
