Enterprise was canceled before the CW was formed. They were happier to take wrestling and "America's Top Model."

CBS is sort of a "Grandma Network," so you never know. They may look to put a Trek show on the airwaves. All Access could become a floundering venture that could take a long time to get off the ground.

I don't like that there should be so much pressure to gamble on a new Trek series to launch a new streaming "network." It's also a little bothersome that the creative vision behind Discovery was fired before the show even began.

I think that's why it's generating so much discussion - it's clear that we won't be seeing Fuller's product at all, so people are naturally wondering what might have been.

Except, I don't here comments on the product or might have been discussions, as much as the railing against CBS and lack of confidence in the product.

So, the first two episodes were written by Bryan Fuller and filed as the 'pilot'- so, I guess all those railing against the two promos (thinking Fuller's departure greatly changed the series) now realize they might not have liked what Mr. Fuller came up with? (I assume)

I think you're being cheeky, but the teleplay is only one (important) component of the final onscreen execution.

I remember in 09 I saw a bridge concept from production that looked like a true modern update of the TOS bridge and not an Apple Store. The so called iBridge was a melding of that bridge concept with a way more far out one we all would have hated more.

Just to touch on those rumours of Meyer developing a Khan show... maybe he is, maybe he isn't, but there's not a chance in hell any new show ends up on The CW. They treated ENT like shit, for one (although their programming is much more sci-fi friendly now), and secondly, any new Trek is going on All Access. CBSAA needs to hold onto Trek subscribers when Discovery is off air, so don't be surprised to see them full the gaps with other spin offs and mini-series'. There's no chance Trek goes anywhere other than All Access.

Except you know, Space TV.

Because when a great talent shows interest in a property that most other talents think is a dung heap, you don't just throw that away. No one cared about Trek for over a decade. They missed the 50th and there was no reason to rush it. In 10 years no one will care that DSC came out 10 years before, or 9 or 8. They will care if it was something special or just another rehash of an old scifi show.

The Abrams bridge was a blending of the modern update and the far out there concept. The far out there concept would have been hated more as it looked nothing like a Star Trek bridge.

I'm all for skepticism all the time about everything. But imagine you were hiring the showrunner. Compare the resumé of Fuller against the current showrunners. It's not even a contest.
Fuller has more Star Trek experience than the rest of them put together. Pushing Daisies had great story and character and was a beautiful production. Ditto for Hannibal. He helped Heroes become a pop culture phenomenon in S1. He created Dead Like Me and co-created Wonderfalls, both cult classics. And anyone who's even mildly interested in his work needs to check out the Mockingbird Lane pilot. It's clever, disturbing and funny, and shows how to really reboot/reimagine a show from yesteryear without rehashing the original.
I'm not trashing the others (well, maybe Kurtzman), but they don't have the experience yet. Of course I'll still watch and I hope they succeed.
