I talked my wife into watching Aurora tonight. Her initial reaction was, "Ugggh... a CGI fan film?" But she relented.
Ten minutes into the first one I paused it and gave her the option to watch something else instead... but she was fine with continuing. By the end she was getting a little sniffly. Emotionally family stuff gets to her.
When it was done, I asked if she'd had enough or if she wanted to continue on to the second one. She wanted to go ahead and watch.
She adored the second one, as I suspected she would. It's exactly her brand of humor. She laughed out loud at several points, and- I'm not making this up- she literally applauded at the end.
Thank you very much for all of your work on Aurora. It's one of the absolute delights that have come out of the fan film community.
I understand your reasoning for moving on to another project, and I fully intend to support it. But I want to also point out that the strength of Aurora isn't that it's set in the Star Trek universe, it's the writing, performances... and engaging characters and situations that can not only elicit a belly laugh but also put a tear in your eye.
So while I'll certainly be eagerly following your next project, I do want to say that should Kara, T'Ling, and the Aurora get hit by another energy wave that propels them into a copyright infringement free universe, I can guarantee you at least one pre-order of the bluray.
EDIT: I just noticed that Aurora has been completed for months! Man, how did I miss that? Thanks to Bixby for bumping the thread!
