Sounds like you'll have to tune in and see ;)
Sure, but many people around here (and on trektoday) seem to think they already have it pretty much figured out.

I'm not quite seeing what the chronology and cause of effect of many of those trailer scenes are, so I'll guess I'll have to actually go see it...

From what I've gathered, is the outline of the Klingon society we know from TNG+ is there. They still care about honour, they're still separated into houses. The 'death yell' is seen in the trailer. They will speak 'real' Klingon.

The writers on the show have done their homework.

Yep, the writers have, but I'm not sure about the makeup. Mind you, I can see a thematic need to break away from the old look for the Klingons; it helps underscore that these will be more complex and interesting than "Space Vikings". But I don't really like the makeup ... as I've said before, it looks stiff and overwrought. They could have used modern CGI techniques to enhance the makeup and come up with something truly original to take over the new look, but these look like the throwaway aliens from a dozen different franchises -- from Stargate's Unas to Galaxy Quest's Sarris.

And it's also puzzling that while the look of these Klingons has changed, the engravings on the props seem to show the older look.

Perhaps the props were designed before the final Klingon makeup was finished.

Or for some dumb reason they were not given the designs.

Or its just stylized.

Or maybe it's just part of the mystery, and we'll find out more when we get to watch the show.

Don't the clips show them speaking English?

My guess is, just like the movies, we will get a mix of Klingon with subtitles and English.

I suspect English will be when speaking through the universal translator with non-Klingons. But when its a Klingon speaking with other Klingons, it will be subtitled.

I just do not see the need for the Klingons to speak anything but English. For me, it doesn't add anything and is distracting. It doesn't help me to hear them speak Klingon, because I already know they're Klingons and I'm watching Star Trek and don't need further reminding they are aliens. But it's a nit, one in which I can easily ignore as long as it's not overdone. A few snippets of it here and there are just fine, but long conversations in Klingon with letterbox dialogue on the bottom is just plain silly, unneeded, and pure fanwank.

Aliens having their own language is a nice touch of realism that adds world-building depth. Trek was immensely enriched when we finally heard two of our favorite alien species speaking their own languages in TMP. I can't wait for more Klingon-language dialog.

I'm glad to have it. Never did Star Wars any harm ;)

I love the alien languages. I also liked the translator effect in Beyond. Either one of those works fine for me. People are much more receptive to reading subtitles now than they were 30 years ago. Especially with shows like LOST and Game of Thrones leading the way with real and fictitious languages.

Obviously I'm right and yall are wrong.

This is just another (of several) wait-and-see-the-show-first before passing judgement type thingie. Like that silly looking saucer with the missing pieces. :p

That effect was one of the huge moments for me in the theater. It's something simple, and yet it left such an impact on me, going "Yes, that's a great way to show that effect."
