Yes, yes, the Klingons were very different 1979 (and then 1984) onwards BUT their unique turtle heads became iconic not just with Trekkies but also casuals/non-fans, so I don't get changing their appearance so much that you can't immediately identify them as Klingons.

Yeah, but there isn't any context provided. It could be an ancient house in the sense that his family has been around a long time, doesn't necessarily mean T'Kuvma himself is ancient.
I'd agree if it wasn't for the fact that we see a sarcophagus. That would seem to imply Klingons from long ago will appear.
We still don't have enough info to say for sure either way yet. I like the idea of them being ancient Klingons, but I'm willing to play devil's advocate and say they might not be.
They might not be, but I'm betting the sarcophagus is something important. It could be that it contains someone of great significance to Klingon history and this is somehow important to T'kuvma's plan.
Oh, I thought their little biographies were longer than that.
But I like the new look, I don't mind if these are the standard Klingons from now on, might finally get them out of this boring rut they've been in since TNG.
I really don't care about "canon looks" but boy, do they look shit.

I like the look and the idea that these might be "ancient Klingons" is at least unique enough to get me invested. However, I'm in agreement with you that I'm tired of Klingons and generally wish that they'll be done with after one season. The only thing about the design I really don't like is L'Rell's elongated cranium, looks weird.
I still like the idea of these actually being ancient Klingons, but "leader of an ancient Klingon house" could just as easily be used to describe Duras, Gowron, Martok*, or most other important Klingon characters. It's probably nothing more than that.
