This is getting off topic but in regards to Bliss I've always wondered why they weren't affected. Sure they didn't share in the desire to return to the AQ, but surely they had some other desires the alien would have tapped into.

Neelix valued family he suffered the loss of his own and Voyager was unashamedly his new family. There would be adjustments for the whole crew on return to the Alpha Quadrant and once they disbanded. Voyager was their safe place all those years. I agree about Bliss and even the resolution of Mortal Coil, Neelix was and felt himself a valued member of Voyager. He had to leave behind much of what was his Talaxian roots. So it was kind of out of the blue that just before the finish line he was returned back to a Talaxian family and colony. I wonder to the writing of that.
He was willing to follow where ever Kes wanted to go. And it did give both of them them a good place to live and work.
It was such a nice blue cake too. I was just looking at an image of it, well the cake he presented to her when she was married to Tom. Funny seeing Neelix in a uniform. I remembered he wore one in Living Witness but forgot about Before and After. Like you think I'd remember that, lol

He had promised to stand by Janeway's side no matter what and then he suddenly act as a quitter by staying on that isolated asteroid. I guess he regretted that des´cision over and over again. It wouldn't take long before he was bored to death and started missing his old life.
The whole scenario with them finding an asteroid inhabited with Talaxians 60 000 light years ot so from Talaxian space and Neelix leaving was silly.

When Neelix died and came back to life, he should've had a personality reboot and it was the biggest mistake of the series that it hadn't done so. T'was the perfect opportunity ...
As I've written before Janeway was set upon setting up a diplomatic and strategic infrastructure in the DQ.
Letting Neelix be a diplomat(and probably a contact/agent for DQ activities/events) was a smart decision on Janeway's part and a wise acceptance by Neelix.

Neelix was valuable especially in the first phase of their journey home but he remained as a contact in the DQ. Still he had gone so far and there was a little sense of pathos that he didn't get to go the full distance.
You have to wonder how useful he would've been on Earth or within the Federation, remaining on the colony as a link and with a family did give him purpose.

From a story POV Neelix finding more Talaxians to join was a happy ending.

Well there are the books but their not for everyone.

Sorry, I don't agree with that.
What you are saying is that it would be extremely difficult to produce a post Voyager trek show for Tv and get fans to connect with and understand it unless fans/ viewers were familiar with every episode of TNG, DS9 and VOY ?
Not every episode necessarily but they would have to be familiar with something like 30 characters, multiple species, IU events and such.
