Novels have come up in another thread and it seems like an interesting topic, so I thought it would be fun to have a thread about the novels....instead of derailing the other thread.

So what are some of your favorite Voyager novels?

I enjoy a lot of them, The Nanotech War is probably my favorite. I'm really also enjoying the post series relaunch novels.

The Dark Matter and String Theory series were also very good.

I really enjoyed Echoes and Battle Lines. From the relaunch, The Eternal Tide blew me away, but you really need the context of the previous 3 novels (starting with Full Circle) to appreciate it.

Echoes is also high on my list.

With the relaunch books you really have to read all of them, they build on each other.

I liked Mosaic. The flashbacks into Janeway's past were very interesting.

For the Relaunch books, I like the first 2 or 3.

I read part of before dishonor-Janeway's conversation with the female Q was rather sad and yet heartwarming.

One thing I was disappointed with Destiny is that Voyager didn't show up as much as I thought they should.

You know, it is often common to say "visit the past to understand the present and look to the future". I guess It is the same with a book.
Anyway, Mosaic allowed me to better know, understand (especially why she acted like this or that) and love the character of Kathryn Janeway.
-> Jeri Taylor created the basis of the characters of Janeway & Chakotay, Mulgrew and Beltran gave them life.

Yeah, when I got to Destiny, I was really hoping that it would be a major crossover where ALL of the 24th century cast would have a chance to shine, rather than just their cameo. And the gaps that were filled in with Full Circle were nice, but so much after the fact. However, I do love Full Circle.

And I can also agree wtih above that Mosaic is a great read. I haven't read any other books that took place during the series except for String Theory, which I also enjoyed quite a bit.

That didn't surprise me since it was a TNG book, but still interesting

I don't really like the early novels as much but high up on my list surprisinglyis #2...or the first real Voyager novel which is The Escape. It was written before the show so the characters are kind of different in personality but the plot is really interesting to me.

Are there any that include the Malon? I'm writing a one-shot fan-fiction story that includes them and anything I could read about them would be helpful.

No, they haven't made any appearances in the novels. I'm sure Memory Alpha will have a lot of information

That's interesting...what was their involvement? I kind of liked them. I always wondered about them. Voyager had presented methods to reduce their waste to the one guy who didn't want to hear it but I've always wondered if there weren't others who would be willing to learn. I think the guy from Juggernaut would have liked to hear that information.

From what I vaguely remember, they arrive in the alpha quadrant through a gateway and accidentally(?) pollute the hell out of planet and Kira has to save the day. It was a good Kira story...I really wish we had more Captain Kira before everything got wonky.
