The gorgeous transporter chief from TNG's "The Outrageous Okuna". Aka Terri Hatcher.
Yeah I'm not sure I quite appreciated Leeta enough while I was watching DS9 but I think you are right. She has that everywoman quality that is actually really refreshing in Trek.I think some love should be shown for Leeta and not just because she is hot. She was the perfect match for Rom. Both are really kind and kind of dumb. Which makes for good comedy and variety because usually everyone on Trek shows are smart and got a good handle on their lives. They have some of that everyman quality that you really do only see on DS9 with a few exceptions like Bones,Barclay,Paris,Torres and Neelix.

I'll be the first to say I preferred the magnificent Jadzia, but I think it is too harsh on Ezri to box her into some kind of stereotypical role. I actually found it refreshing that in a world generally populated by perfect, together, impeccably accomplished people, Ezri was allowed to be unsure of herself and naive. She was also the first genuinely cute and girlish female character in the main cast that Star Trek had, as far as I see it.Saldana's Uhura, because Saldana usually is the best part of anything she's in.
Apart from that I think most female characters had something to like even though the sexism in much of Trek tended to make things a little cringeworthy.
I don't get the Ezri love but maybe that is just because adding her seemed like a distraction when the show should've just focused on the ongoing storyline. There was no need to replace Jadzia after her death. Jadzia was much more interesting, too, with her rough edges, whereas Ezri was the "cute and pure" woman that nerds can adore. It's hard to tune out the fan response when I see her these days. I remember plenty of forum posts from men talking about how perfect and pure Ezri is compared to Jadzia. A true nerd's dream: pretty, petite, a bit silly and somewhat naive, inexperienced, agreeable and cute.
What a letdown after hard-drinking, independent, partying, sexually active Jadzia who had so much fun and could be fierce.

Manic pixie dream worm.Saldana's Uhura, because Saldana usually is the best part of anything she's in.

Like I said it's hard for me to separate what's on screen from the stereotypical male nerd reaction to her that I've seen so much.
Ezri wasn't all bad. But I do think there was a lot of male nerd wish fulfillment in Ezri, compared to (again) hard-drinking, independent and fierce Jadzia.
Jadzia Dax (Terry Farrell), Nyota Uhura (Nichols and Saldana), T'Pol (Jolene Blalock).
