Guys, who's your favorite Trek female?

Kira Nerys, for character and actress absolutely. Taking into account other factors too, Seven of Nine or Jadzia Dax.
All three beautiful, amazing in every way.

It's a big thing for a Voyager fan to acknowledge Nana Visitor's Kira.. And Jadzia is very pretty. I do like Janeway though, I still do.

I think some love should be shown for Leeta and not just because she is hot. She was the perfect match for Rom. Both are really kind and kind of dumb. Which makes for good comedy and variety because usually everyone on Trek shows are smart and got a good handle on their lives. They have some of that everyman quality that you really do only see on DS9 with a few exceptions like Bones,Barclay,Paris,Torres and Neelix.

Yeah I'm not sure I quite appreciated Leeta enough while I was watching DS9 but I think you are right. She has that everywoman quality that is actually really refreshing in Trek.

Saldana's Uhura, because Saldana usually is the best part of anything she's in. :p

Apart from that I think most female characters had something to like even though the sexism in much of Trek tended to make things a little cringeworthy.

I don't get the Ezri love but maybe that is just because adding her seemed like a distraction when the show should've just focused on the ongoing storyline. There was no need to replace Jadzia after her death. Jadzia was much more interesting, too, with her rough edges, whereas Ezri was the "cute and pure" woman that nerds can adore. It's hard to tune out the fan response when I see her these days. I remember plenty of forum posts from men talking about how perfect and pure Ezri is compared to Jadzia. A true nerd's dream: pretty, petite, a bit silly and somewhat naive, inexperienced, agreeable and cute.
What a letdown after hard-drinking, independent, partying, sexually active Jadzia who had so much fun and could be fierce.

I'll be the first to say I preferred the magnificent Jadzia, but I think it is too harsh on Ezri to box her into some kind of stereotypical role. I actually found it refreshing that in a world generally populated by perfect, together, impeccably accomplished people, Ezri was allowed to be unsure of herself and naive. She was also the first genuinely cute and girlish female character in the main cast that Star Trek had, as far as I see it.

I do enjoy the ladies of Star Trek.

Kira Nerys and B'elanna Torres would be my equal favourite Star Trek characters.

Janeway is a distant second, mostly because Kate Mulgrew is a marvellous performer and never missed a beat...even when the character wasn't written all that well. I also very much like Jadzia Dax, but for the opposite reasons. Loved the character, but Terry Farrell too often hit all the wrong notes for me.

Honorable mention for Bev, too.

Like I said it's hard for me to separate what's on screen from the stereotypical male nerd reaction to her that I've seen so much.
Ezri wasn't all bad. But I do think there was a lot of male nerd wish fulfillment in Ezri, compared to (again) hard-drinking, independent and fierce Jadzia.

Manic pixie dream worm.

Is this supposed to be funny, or...?

I don't get it.

Respectfully, I think you are looking way too deep into this. The writers obviously just wanted to go in a different direction to not be doing a "retread" of Jadzia.

Also- I find it somewhat objectionable that you'd assume you know what "stereotypical male nerds" want in a female, as if it was universal. I liked Ezri a lot, and I'm the furthest thing from a "stereotypical male nerd" you'll find (with the exception that I waste a lot of time on this board). And I don't like her just because she isn't independent/fierce/hard-drinking.

It would be like me saying that the "stereotypical female nerd" likes Spock and Data as opposed to nuKirk, for example. Probably not a cool thing to say.

I was basing my comment on what I've read on the forums, all too often.

That doesn't mean that every nerd is like that, it also doesn't mean that everybody who likes Ezri is the stereotypical nerd. So no need to be so easily offended.

If you like Ezri, that's good for you.

Yeah, the thing is that 'stereotypical male nerds' can like many different types of women. I'm sure there is no shortage of fanboying over Jadzia - but Seven of Nine also comes to mind, who is the farthest thing from Ezri but is also often seen as 'pandering' to male nerd fantasies.
I welcome male nerd dream-girls (as long as they are also good characters, well-developed and not existing solely for that purpose), just as I welcome female nerd dream-boys (with the same caveats). Or, I might very much add, dream-girls for fangirls and dream-boys for fanboys.
If there was an outpouring of some kind of horrible stuff upon the introduction of Ezri, I'm not aware of it. Maybe something objectionable went on in fandom back then? I don't know. But I still think Ezri remains a solid character within the show.
