Is anyone hoping for alien species that showed up in VOY, DS9, and next generation?

I love the Romulans ... But I don't think they can use them. I would have no problems with Cardassians

Why couldn't Romulans be used? If there's a compelling story reason, they could be disguised as rogue Vulcans and to the audience revealed as being Romulans. So long as they aren't revealed to Starfleet or the Vulcans for who they are, canon wouldn't be violated. However again, the story would need to dictate it and be really good for this skirting the line to be effective otherwise it will be another "Acquisition".

I always loved the Anticans and the Selay, it would be interesting to see those more extreme alien looks realized with modern technology. Same for the Sheliak or the Yridians.

Bolians would be a cool race to build out, they've had a very long run on Trek without us learning much of anything about them, which would make them appealing to writers -- well established in canon, but also effectively a blank slate for your new ideas.

And we've never seen them, but I was always intrigued by the Tzenkethi. From the minute Bryan Fuller gave that quote about how Discovery would explore an event that has always fascinated him, referenced in Trek lore but never really explored, I knew my equivalent version of that would be a series set between TOS and TNG that tackled the Federation/Tzenkethi war.

No Ferengi, no Borg, there are plenty of one-off and little used species from TOS proper and the films which could be mined, TMP's wide variety of background aliens, ditto those from TVH, the Efrosians from TVH and TUC are a simple make up, some color, a couple of small forehead appliances, and a wig, there is no reason to drag in anachronistic species from the 24th century shows

I want to see the early Bajorans and the Cardassians. There is so much backstory we don't know about them.

First contact with the Deltans. Would be like a cross between the Edo and Risa. On steroids.
I think it was in the 4th season episode with the Orion slave girls, Mayweather mentions encountering Deltans on his father's ship when he was a space boomer. On the subject of Cardassians they're name checked in the episode where Trip & Hoshi are infected with a disease by aliens as a first contact test. I would have liked to have seen Cardassians on ENT as according to the canon, at this point in time they were supposed to be a peaceful, spiritual people. As for other races from the spin-offs why not, including Ferengi. I've got to be honest I've never liked this trope that everything is the first time. Like the crew's unfamiliarity with the holodeck in TNG season One, or how they'd never seen the Ferengi until 'The Last Outpost' even though two seasons later in 'Captain's Holiday' Vash and her mentor had worked with a Ferengi long before that. And just because a race wasn't namechecked doesn't mean it couldn't have been known to the Federation. Remember The Federation had been fighting a major war with the Cardassians and that wasn't mentioned once in the first three seasons of TNG.

The best way, narratively, to introduce something new to the audience is for it to be new to the characters. In that case any explanatory dialogue, etc at least makes story sense.

Hard to believe, but Vash and her mentor might not have been filing regular reports with the Federation and Starfleet.
Are we to assume that they were the only ones interacting with Ferengi? AS I said its a just a gimmick to lend some gravitas by making it the first. During my previous post I forgot to add that Kirk was supposed to be the first Starfleet captain to be court-martialled. I don't think so. It may not have been common but Kirk was the first, in a hundred-plus years?

I think they should avoid the mistakes ENT made and only use species that where known at the time. However, as most species where never brought up, there is plenty of room to add new ones.
+1 ;)
I'm tired of seeing later 24th century era aliens in the 23rd century. Berman&Braga Trek is dead (And lets please KEEP it that way).

Enterprise didn't really use 24th century aliens at all. They primarily used Vulcans and Andorians.

24th century aliens appear in 3% of ENT? There's that one Ferengi ep, that Borg episode, and one where nausicans show up, even though their appearance was changed.

Everything else was TOS era aliens and a whole bunch of new aliens.

And it wasn't even in the 23rd century...

Yeah the Borg did not belong at all and I love the Borg. and I have no issue with races we have no idea when they meet, but I would like to explore new ground.
