This board also has spoiler tags.

To open a new thread, click the Home button at the top-left to bring up all the categories. Next, click on the desired category, in this case Fan Art is probably the best fit for your images. Scroll to the bottom and click on the New Topic button at the bottom-right. Ta-da.
Yes, thanks. I think I see everything except the spoiler tags.

Maybe they are the same as the other board?

Yes, that seems to work, but I need to type them in manually. O.K. I think a fan art project of a Star Trek: Photostrip might be in order. Once I get it up and running, I'll put a link here for interested parties.

O.K., it's up and running now. Link below.

Again, thanks.

Tampaxanar Twitter never fails to make me smile:

Seems there's a limit of 20 images per post. So I'll have to break up more than a few of these into smaller chunks. It's a little more work, but nothing too major.

It's up and running, for what it's worth. I have no idea what kind of traffic it will get, but anyone interested should be able to see it here:

I can't make the link go to the top of thread, so scroll up (unless a mod can fix that for me).

I'll add to the thread as time goes on. Maybe others will, too.

More fun for me then.

The image insert tool is slow compared to just putting image tags around the urls. Is there a manual way to do it? Hmmm. Maybe image tags will work - I just can't see them in the edits, but only the full images. I try to type the tags in here, and it seems to attempt to make it into an image. Well, I try it later.

None. Fair use. Parody.

Good example is Galaxy Quest. It was obvious to most people that they were riffing Trek but it was changed more-than-enough to not be infringing on anything so Paramount couldn't complain. And that's the point. You can use Trek as a foundation to make your own ideas, but you can't just do Star Trek. That's cheating. If you invent a clock radio that detects radon I can't just paint it white and expect you not to knock on my door.

What CBS doesn't want is for someone else to make money from their hard work. It has to be different enough to avoid confusion and many fan films were starting to get confused with the actual product. This was probably coming down the pike anyway. It's comparatively cheap to make a good-looking Trek product these days.

*writes down idea*

News reports get around copyright, so can education and parody. But you can't do make a movie, call it an educational presentation, and walk away. It also doesn't really matter if you're a non-profit.

So most of the jokes will fly, no problem, even when maybe it's not changed "more-than-enough"? But what about my attempt at an actual Trek story? Do you think as long as I don't try to make money, and the thread I put it on contains the disclaimers CBS/Paramount wanted for fan films, that the fan photo strip story would be O.K.? And by that, I mean it's an infringement, sure, but CBS/Paramount (as if they'd ever see it) or more importantly, the Trek BBS mods will be fine with it?

Well, even if they aren't, they'd probably just ask me to take it down.

Why would you want to put the BBS at risk with your infringement because you can't resist taking something that isn't yours?

Get a tumblr.

I'm not taking anything in the traditional sense of the word. And the risk of an infringement of this nature seems pretty low. But I'm sure BBS will tell me to take it down if they have a problem with it.

What CBS/Paramount has said is true. Our customs are different. What Professor Zoom has said is unimportant, and we do not hear his words.

It wouldn't surprise me if Galaxy Quest was sufficiently different from Star Trek that they don't need the parody exemption. This would be an interesting question to ask an actual copyright lawyer.

@JRTStarlight, DFTT!
