She's lightin' up like a Christmas Tree on the Fourth of July Cap'n!Och! I'm givin' it all the likes she's got!
Yes, thanks. I think I see everything except the spoiler tags. This board also has spoiler tags.
To open a new thread, click the Home button at the top-left to bring up all the categories. Next, click on the desired category, in this case Fan Art is probably the best fit for your images. Scroll to the bottom and click on the New Topic button at the bottom-right. Ta-da.
Above the Reply box, there's a row of icons (bold / italic / underline / etc). The fourth from the right is a plus-sign (+) for Insert which has four options under it: quote / spoiler / code / strike-through.I see everything except the spoiler tags.
That sounds like an insult: "Go sit on a warp core!"Ah wull sit oan th' warp core if ah hae tae

It's green.Aye, that'll gi'e ye a warm glow'.
None. Fair use. Parody. That's only for proper names; for example, Scrabble, or Gowron. But human and klingon and andorian and vulcan, etc. are names of species or races, too, and wouldn't necessarily be capitalized.

How many infringements can you count here?
None. Fair use. Parody.
So most of the jokes will fly, no problem, even when maybe it's not changed "more-than-enough"? But what about my attempt at an actual Trek story? Do you think as long as I don't try to make money, and the thread I put it on contains the disclaimers CBS/Paramount wanted for fan films, that the fan photo strip story would be O.K.? And by that, I mean it's an infringement, sure, but CBS/Paramount (as if they'd ever see it) or more importantly, the Trek BBS mods will be fine with it?
Well, even if they aren't, they'd probably just ask me to take it down.
It wouldn't surprise me if Galaxy Quest was sufficiently different from Star Trek that they don't need the parody exemption. This would be an interesting question to ask an actual copyright lawyer.Good example is Galaxy Quest. It was obvious to most people that they were riffing Trek but it was changed more-than-enough to not be infringing on anything so Paramount couldn't complain.
I'm not taking anything in the traditional sense of the word. And the risk of an infringement of this nature seems pretty low. But I'm sure BBS will tell me to take it down if they have a problem with it.
What CBS/Paramount has said is true. Our customs are different. What Professor Zoom has said is unimportant, and we do not hear his words.
