Yes, Gotham and Metropolis adjoined each other across a bay-so what? This is a rebooted universe, for all we know, they've always been like that.
So, as I observed in the bit you quoted, Snyder and the DCEU team "had no idea while making Man of Steel that Gotham and Metropolis practically adjoin each other," because they absolutely would have at least mentioned it if they did. That's not an artistic demerit to either movie, but it is a measure of the haphazard planning of this franchise.

(have you even read the original origin story? At all?)
Nope. What of it?

Half of the problems of Gotham absolutely would not exist if they were that close to Superman in this world Snyder created.

And the people of Metropolis wouldn't act like they had no idea who Batman was and how he operated as if the river stopped the flow of all information somehow.

Didn't Perry seem to know?

A sign referencing Batman appears in the background of one of the Metropolis-set battle scenes in Man of Steel, so the urban legend of his existence definitely reached across the bay.

Wouldn't be the first time.

A city the size of Metropolis in Delaware? That's hilarious.

The DCEU just crossed the $3 billion mark, in just 4 movies.

MOS - $668,045,518
BvS - $873,260,194
SS - $745,600,054
WW - $713,894,475 * Still in theaters.

I gave it an A. It was quite entertaining, and easier to follow than BvS.

If we stick to what was 50 years ago, it's always just gonna be white dudes all the time...

You are misreading. "For more than a half century, Iron Man, Captain America the Hulk and Thor have all had popular storylines as individual characters (and in group situations) that shaped a large part of the published Marvel lines" is not saying stick to what happened 50 years ago, but points out the importance and development of those characters from past to present. They are the movers and shakers of Marvel's stories, and their biggest brands that have succeeded both on and away from the printed page, something 99% the of their characters cannot match, and are largely unknown, or not too inspiring in their native medium. That cannot be denied or brushed aside in the name of anything that does not have the appeal to capture as many moviegoers and best sell the brand, and legacy.

No, you're missing my point.

I'm not saying ditch those characters, I'm saying there's nothing in those 50 years worth of of stories that says they have to be white, and transferring those stories to the big screen and exposing them to a much wider audience was an excellent opportunity to both honor their past and update those characters for the future generations... an opportunity Marvel ignored.

Yeah Wonder Woman debuted just before the US got involved in WWII so her character in the comics actually fought with the JSA in that war. I guess the movie producers decided that it would be to similar to Captain America if she was placed in WWII so they decided to get super creative and have the movie Wonder Woman start out in WWI or as it was called at the time The Great War.

I know that it has been stated that the next Wonder Woman is set in the present, but this movie does leave open the possibility of a WWII era Justice Society movie. It could even extend the whole "secretary" joke quite easily.

Interesting how Captain America doubled with each movie. Also, how Iron Man 3 is regared as the worst of that 3, but most successful.

And here's Wonder WOman's Stats, as of Tuesday, July 4 from Box Office Mojo:

Domestic: $354,602,300 49.4%
+ Foreign: $363,400,000 50.6%
= Worldwide: $718,002,300

ANd WW was # 3 on that Tuesday (July 4).

That $354 million has beat ALL the other DC Film Universe movies, despite having the smallest budget of the 4, and lowest number of theaters. But ironically, WW has the smallest International take (so far). Now, it's only been out 5 weeks, compared to the 12-14 weeks to the others. It'll be interesting to see the final numbers. WW has beat Man of Steel internationally, and can potentially beat Suicide Squad.

Oh, and one last factoid...it looks like the Ju;y 4 holiday really helped the movie!

I think it's the post-Avengers glow that pushed Iron Man 3 over the top. Like most movies, IM3 was reappraised and people didn't find that they enjoyed it as much as it's financial success and critical acclaim show. Same way people reappraised TDKRises and found it to be the worst of the Nolan trilogy.

I think people were just expecting too much from Iron Man. I thought it was a fine story and an improvement over IM2--I thought that it was done correctly in the sense that it was a more personal story than The Avengers. One of the things that I like about the MCU is that the individual stories and team stories seem to play the same role as they do in the comic medium. Civil War may have been a "team movie" but it was essentially focused on Cap's side of the story, for example.

I'm actually the opposite. I didn't care for it so much in the theater, but once the disappointment over the Mandarin twist wore off and I just rolled with it, I found that I enjoyed the more personal take on the character.

But I do agree that Iron Man 3 was riding off of Avengers success.

I didn't like IM2 at all but loved IM3. I'm a total Shane Black fanboy and have no knowledge of the comics Mandarin, so my opinion may not be representative. My wife, who likes some, but not all, comic book adaptations, enjoyed it a lot too.

We just saw this in Colombia last night--four adults and three preteens. Although the movie is not playing in a lot of cinemas any longer, the room was still packed last night.
