A BIG Spoiler Is Coming

I'm hoping that the First Doctor returns. I've been hoping that for awhile. Even better if Susan is with him. However, I hope that it's not just an appearance but really gets into some aspects of the state of affairs just before Unearthly Child. Something that gives this a bit more context and explore the relationship with Susan more than the classic series ever did. (Yes, I'm aware that McCoy's Dalek story provided some context but that was only via plot points rather than real characterization and interaction.)

They did. in the story Web Of Fear. The Yeti were in that.

They showed up in The Abominable Snowmen, The Web of fear (that was mentioned in the post before mine) and The Five Doctors. They're a classic villain I'd like to see again, in all their weird furry glory.
Hahahaha...of course, I knew that. Talk about an epic brain fart. :o

Just Bigfoot then. :p

I never saw the one with the headcrabs? What was the deal with that story?
You really should watch "Last Christmas" because it's a great episode, one of the best Christmas specials, and would have been a beautiful swan song for Clara if Jenna Coleman hadn't changed her mind at the last second and decided to stay.

What's funny is that that's what I hoped would be the story of the anniversary special -- the War Doctor has used the moment and isn't sure he can go on, so the tenth and eleventh Doctors have to team up to convince the War Doctor that he's still a good man and that he really is the Doctor.

With #10 & #11 having "cosmic angst" ala #5 in The Five Doctors?

Essentially, yes. The idea I had, once it was clear that Hurt was an actual, forgotten Doctor, is that he was so consumed with guilt at what he'd done to destroy Gallifrey and the Daleks that he wasn't sure he could continue. So, the future Doctors would have to remind the Hurt Doctor that he was a good man, because their own survival depended on it.

In my view, Moffat reversed this. The War Doctor, even though he despairs of what he's done and has to do, was fundamentally still a good man and it was his future selves that needed the reminder.

I sorta don't want the First Doctor to return, and specifically, I don't want it to be Bradley.

It's sort of mixing and meta to have the guy who played William Hartnell, who played the Doctor, to be skipping over that, and just play the First Doctor. Obviously, it's a choice that makes sense, but, there's something... meta is the best word that I can think of, that takes away from the experience. It sort of punctures the verisimilitude of the show by casting Bradly because he once played Hartnell.

^ Different strokes but I think it makes it extra cool. I'm hoping it's true!

Yeah. I still think its an exciting idea. 12 and 1 crossing over... but, I'm just a bit meh about the execution. Of course, seeing it, if indeed true, I could be wrong and it's great.

Pearl Mackie shooting on location today.

It's possible that she's just visiting the shooting location but not actually appear in the special. However, if she is in the Xmas special, that's news itself. At least I wasn't aware that she was in it. Rumors were that she would not be in the regeneration episode. Also, clearly she's not only alive but also not a Cyberwoman! Not sure how I feel about that. But, being such a great companion this year, I guess it's a positive that she's around for the regeneration.

Well 10 had a revisit of companions before he regenerated and 11 had a vision of Amy before his. So it stands to reason we woudld see Bill and Clara (maybe Nardole also?) before 12 bows out. It shoudl not be any surprises to see Pearl Mackie and Jeanna Coleman on the set.

Yeah. I like seeing the companions right at the end (11 seeing Amy was a very emotional part of hisa regeneration), so I hope that's all Bill is there for.

True, that could be why she's there. On the other hand, why not a studio based scene rather than on location? We see where Capaldi is regenerating after all and it's not there. I suppose there could be a convoluted explanation but it's hard to make sense of why she's where she is if it's just a regeneration appearance.

Maybe he's like 10 and he starts regenerating but gets to walk around for a bit? That could cause hallucinations, like seeing Bill. On the other hand, she might just survive the next episode and her not being in the special was a fake out. Either could happen, honestly.

Nope, he still doesn't remember Clara.

If only I could be so lucky.

"aaaaaaaaawwwww" that's sad.

Speaking of which does she and Me get a free pass now to travel all over the place? What of the Quantum Shade?

I think that as long as she's between living and dead she can't be detected. Plus, as far as the shade is concerned its already killed her/ is killing her. So, honestly while she does have to go back eventually she has basically unlimited amount of time to do it. She could probably go into the crowd and watch herself die and the shade wouldn't know.
