What's funny is that that's what I hoped would be the story of the anniversary special -- the War Doctor has used the moment and isn't sure he can go on, so the tenth and eleventh Doctors have to team up to convince the War Doctor that he's still a good man and that he really is the Doctor.
Day of the Doctor basically was Christmas Carol all over again. He's the Past Doctor who sees his Future Selves and decides that, with their help, he becomes a better person.
I'd hate it if Capaldi was the one who told him that things are "far from being all over".
Honestly, I'm surprised Doctor Who hasn't done a take on Bigfoot or the yeti.
I love the idea of the First Doctor coming back, and I also like the idea of the new Doctor being introduced in a future way, but... isn't all this taking away from Capaldi? Shouldn't his regeneration be all about what made his era distinct? Ten's was full of wonderful character moments and big, epic, frankly dumb moments, all tied together by loony (to say the least) premises. Eleven's was a hurried hodgepodge of storylines, "smart" twists and wordy character moments outshone by the actors delivering them. Nine's was, well, the last lesson in "Doctor Who 101" for a new generation of viewers. Even the Eighth's was representative - short, but sweet when he was in it.
Even OldWho did this, somewhat, though far more clumsily. The First Doctor regenerated just as the Cybermen were introduced - a milestone. The Second when the Time Lords were, and took with him the entire B&W era. The Fourth re-introduced the Master and brought hard sci-fi to the mix. The Fifth's regeneration story wasn't representative of his era at all - but representative of the Doctor himself, in that he was always out to save his younger friends and got himself hurt in the process. The Sixth had no such luck in TV, though, and Seven... well, the TV Movie hardly harkens back to the Cartmel Masterplan, does it (although I still appreciate the irony of his demise being against his overconfident-in-planning persona). Only the Third Doctor's exit was such - representative of his time with UNIT, complete with overblown gadgets that completely took over the plot from time to time but still were embelished with that era and in particular, that Doctor.
What I'm saying is, Twelfth looks like he might not have that chance, and you could blame him. His time was largely undefined. He was tough as nails in series 8, but without the characterization to back it up (why was he that way, exactly?). Series 10 provided the best possible characterization early on - a schoolmaster who travels around the places he teaches about. But, that was totally abandoned in the last half of this series, sadly.

Eh, I'm fine with what they seem to be leading to with 12. At this point, all that made Capaldi's era distinct is how he managed to be a great Doctor even when 70% of his stories ranged from sub par to bad. So if we get some gimmicks for his last stories I'm fine with it, as long as they're done well.
Plus I've wanted to see the 1st Doctor show up since the replacement actor did such a great job in Adventures in Time and Space, so that helps win me over even more.

Oh, I agree about Bradley. He was so good, I just wish Moffat did a special with him, McGann and Capaldi.

I'm glad I missed that one. seems a lot of people didn't like it. I missed nearly all of series 10.
What about that other christmas special with the headcrabs?
Its not bad. Its actually pretty enjoyable. I just wish we didn't have to wait until regeneration stories or anniversary stories to get these stuff.
I liked the Mysterio episode. Nothing great, but I thought it was ok. I definitely liked it better then The Next Doctor, Last Christmas, or The Doctor The Widow and the Wardrobe. Although it doesn't match up at all to my favorite (A Christmas Carol, which is also my favorite NuWho episode), or the others that weren't in my first list.
