Right wing cultures in Star Trek

Like other anti-democratic movements (see: fascism), National Socialism took bits and pieces from other ideologies/movements and combined them with its own nationalist (or rather: völkisch), racist, anti-modern (rejection of modern liberal individualism in favor of the community of the Volksgemeinschaft), and obviously antisemitic core beliefs.

The fact that they also took some elements of capitalism, socialism and other movements doesn't seem particularly relevant in that context. Yes, National Socialism contained some socialist elements, just like it contained some capitalist elements. But looking at the big picture of this (certainly messy and inconsistent) belief system, it is glaringly obvious that there are significant differences to actual capitalism, liberalism and socialism.

That is why it doesn't make sense to claim that National Socialism was just a part of any of those other movements. It wasn't, and claiming the opposite is intellectually lazy or not arguing in good faith.

"that wasn't the right kind of socialism"

More it wasn't ANY kind of socialism, no more than my German Shepherd is either german or a shepherd.

Attaching a label to something does not make it so and manipulating that fallacy is common in propaganda circles. Dictatorships are commonly called things like "the freedom party" precisely because of the cognitive dissonance that caused and the very real chance people will be influenced by the name as much as the reality.

I assume the lot of you are socialists, because you seem to take personal offense to this obvious truth.

I assume you are neutronium, because you are INCREDIBLY dense.

Also, your personal definition of "truth" appears to be deviating from the conventionally accepted definition, which requires at least some level of factual accuracy.

Godwin's Law, reductio ad Hitlerum, etc. When you take political anger and stir it up nice with laziness, you get people comparing anything they find objectionable in politics and culture to Hitler and the Nazi Party.

Hurts to be schooled?

Socialist? I'm not even sociable!
I think that can be turned around on you. The Nazis were conservative, so conservatives take offense at being in a group with them. And can't fault them for that. No one likes to grouped with the Nazis.

Hm, plenty of American conservatives don't seem to mind being around Steve Bannon these days so dunno what that says about them.

Meh, I'm not a conservative. All you extremists are alike, left and right.

I am a neo-con, not a conservative, if you want to associate people with familiar terms. I'm as much anti-libertarian as I am anti-communist. I used to believe in the Republican party of McCain and Graham, but mostly disgusted by it ever since they placed party before country. In general, it's best to ask people what their views are, instead of judging them while armed with your preconceived radical stereotypes. The radicalization and intolerance of both Left and Right is to blame for the sad outcome of these last presidential elections.

If you want to know, I'll vote for the democratic party in any upcoming elections. At least they don't put traitors in the White House.

..but social or religious conservatism and esp. the neo-con
movement that put Trump in office seems to be on the side of these cultures waging war on
the weak, compassion-obsessed Federation.
Do you think the Federation is compassion obsessed though? I was reviewing the decisions made by a Federation Captain in Voyager. My conclusion was that the ethic of the Federation (you suggest left leaning) is brutal. The weapons attacking Species 8472 threatened a whole species. A toxic weapon on the alien Suspiria. The pathogen Voyager was going to use on the Borg children. That's a drop in the bucket as far as examples are concerned about how compassionate Federation values are when it comes to saving one's own skin and getting involved in matters of war they know little about. They'll do what it takes, form an alliance with a dangerous enemy, break every rule in the book if necessary. They spend more time firing on aliens than any one else, lol. It's not about right wing and left wing superiority it's about who rules the day.
